CUNTING Sainsburys

We have been sitting here eagerly awaiting the arrival of £180 worth of shopping (unusually large shop, cupboard shop as well as regular groceries) which was booked to arrive between 7 and 8. Once it became apparent that it was late dh checked their schedule online and it transpired that they hadn't got us down for a delivery at all . So we called customer services and were told by a very rude, offhand person that if we hadn't received the confirmation email, it was our own fault our shopping hadn't been delivered. We did receive the confirmation page on the website after we checked out - but we didn't receive the email, which we wouldn't have noticed because our nroadband connection has been playing up over the last few days. So dh tried to check the order out again and book a different time (the earliest available, 11-12 on Saturday). The site refused because "you have already submitted this order"!!.

So we call customer services again and speak to another rude, unhelpful twat who fobs us off - he clearly has difficulty getting the order through the system again too but won't admit there's a problem with their system (dh works in programming and it was bloody obvious there was a problem). He then books a delivery at 3-4pm on Friday without consulting us, then tells us that it's booked - we have to tell him to cancel it because neither of us will be in on Friday (is that so unusual?. So he re-books it for the Saturday 11-12 slot. When dh asks for the forms to be sent for an official complaint (on the grounds that we have now got to do another shop to tide us over until Saturday, and our Saturday is being bollocksed up, and it's THEIR cock-up) he becomes even shittier, and when dh asks for his name, he says "I don' have to give you my name".

Now I have two confirmation emails in my inbox for deliveries of £180 worth of shopping, one for Friday and one for Saturday. They have different order numbers on them, so I'm pretty sure that if we don't do something we will be billed twice and receive two identical deliveries!

Just what you need when you're laid up with a stinking cold and thought your much-needed shopping was arriving imminently.

Hmmmm....I agree about Tesco LadyM. Used to mess me about all the time. Had to drive to pick up my christmas order a few years ago 'cos they couldn't deliver it when they were supposed to and couldn't redeliver it at a time I could be there to take it. Manager very apologetic but helpdesk couldn't give a toss...had to ring several times to get them to refund delivery charge.

EXACTLY the same happened to me with TESCO. It was a shop due late at night too and we needed nappies urgently. Bastards let us down by saying they hadn't received our order. I had spent 4 hours the previous sunday doing the online shop as their inept site kept keeling over.

Which is why I now use Sainsburys.

Or you could just be nice about it all...I do realise that this thread is the wrong place to say such an inflammatory thing [win=bk]. Sainsbury messed up my grocery order at Christmas. It turned up 2 days early because there had been a problem with the website (looong story) and there was no turkey. I rang up helpdesk and explained - didn't rant - and got an apology and a £15 voucher.

I've never spoken to a rude or offhand person on the helpdesk.

They do have to give you their 1st name.

My DH trains customer service call centre staff, and is often horrified at the level of service certain high profile companies offer.

When you complain the persons name will be linked on the order anyway. Give them hell, tell them that it ruined a dinner party or something, demand your grocery bill refunded in full.

And breathe..............

top thread ! I also hate Tesco for the record. They didn't deliver to us once because erm.. the van broke down. I explained that we were waiting for nappies and they said we could redeliver the day after tomorrow - tw*ts !!!

PMSL at this thread!
Off on a slight tangent, but related to what you said about booking in at 3 on Friday, I regularly get this when trying to order a delivery (not necessarily supermarket):
"Would 10am on Tuesday suit you?"
"No, sorry, we both work full time"
"I see..how about 11am on Wednesday?"
"Well..."

GS, have you not phoned and bollocked them and MADE them refund you and then bought elsewhere?

Fgs, you MUST! Anyone sent them a link yet?

Use Waitrose - only one that seems to offer good customer service and delivers food that has a best before date further than 24 hours away.

If I received 2 deliveries and got charged for them both, I would be taking one of them into the store for a refund and hoping to cause as much fuss and chaos as I possibly could.

I actually work on Customer Service for Tesco. I always remember the Dot Com staff would make us phone customers if they were late in delivering. I think they have to do it themselves now, but theres never any staff in in the evenings, only the drivers!

When I read 'release Jamie Oliver' I thought you meant go and release him from Sainsbury's evil clutches.... I firmly believe they have him prisoner and are forcing him to make all those awful ads.

Otter, the same is of Tesco, Customer service is non existent, they really dont care, why should they now, they have the market share and own half of England. Our little minion voices dont cut the mustard anymore.

All the supermarkets are winning, you cant change that unless you visit individual shops to buy your groceries. Oops no you cant do that either, cos there arent any left due to us fools being lazy and buying substandard food from the glamourshops.

Our demise im afraid, cant see what the alternative is now.
