To kick these people out?

7 yrs and this is my first AIBU, and I'm so cowardly I've name changed Grin

So... After years of renting crappy places dh, the 4dcs and I have finally bought a lovely house.

It's great. Needs loads of work doing on it. Lots of potential, completely neglected and now ours. The people who had it before us had some problems and had criminally neglected their animals. The house comes with a field.

Now begins the lovely story. A few years ago Some people passing by saw how neglected the horse in the field was and took it upon themselves to look after it. They did amazing things, built him a shelter, bought him food, trimmed his hooves, all of it.

The horse is a stallion and unbroken but of nice temperament. But it means he can be flighty.

Move on a year and one of the group has taken on most of the care and bought their own horse who now lives rent free in the field.

Two weeks before completion the owner tells us we will be inheriting a cat and that the horses are staying (he's gifted the stallion to the other horse owner)

So... We panicked until lovely horse person came to our door and seemed very nice, and we said they could stay until Easter and then we'd see (rent free).

This all seemed ok, but there have been annoyances: There's no where else to park but in our drive, when we want to wander around the field with the dcs we have to struggle through two horses and it's a nightmare, and now finally we have bought out longed for dog and I can't walk him on my field without someone with me because I can't carry a baby and a puppy and fend off the horses on my own, in December we were told they use one of our sheds for feed, And there are other people who are part of the group who have not introduced themselves to me, but who go on to my field regularly.

So this evening we've let the horse owner know that beyond the end of march we want our field back. At the moment I've used it twice since we moved in and I want to use it daily.

They're not happy. I tell a lie, one is not happy, the other is completely understanding.

I know they did a good thing, I know they put work into the field (shelter and fencing) but I also know they've had free pasture for 18 months in return, and I think it's become a picnic spot for them all.

AIBU? And should I be growing a backbone, because I'm already trying to think of a way to section off some of it, which I know would only end up delaying the inevitable? I'm also worried because I'm in no way insured to have this all going on on my property.

I want nice things for the people who have done good, but at the same time I want to enjoy my home. I also have PND and desperately want to be outside but can't cope with being around people. Just to throw that in there.

If you are going down the legal advice route, it would probably be cheaper to join the British Horse Society for £60 which includes free legal advice.

Thomaslynn, you sound like you've got an impressive legion :) we'll sit you all near the bonfire to keep you thawed. Don't you worry. Although I can't promise I won't get drunk and irritating and decide the height of wit is to keep asking if you want to put another prawn on the barbi. I can only apologise in advance. Your cat hat will keep you warm too.

I can offer, all the way from Perth Australia:
A collection of hippy single mums, most with dreadlocks, baby carriers and who enjoy full-moon drumming
A smaller collection of single mums (comprised of my BFriend and I) with pink hair who enjoy thrash metal and Guinness
A cat who is convinced she's actually a hat
2 toddlers, 9 days apart who look identical and sound very similar. They have different parents yet are disturbingly alike.
A lot of moaning about the cold
A boyfriend who brews his own spirits for peanuts and plies everyone in a 20m radius with bootleg gin

Delurking to cheer you and your festival on. They truly are beyond taking the piss and deserve whatever manure lands on them.

On a slightly selfish note, may I point out that you are very near the end of the thread limit and now may be a good time to start part 2 Smile

Woad, I'll have you know, has both anaesthetic and hallucinogenic properties - yes, those bastards really did NOT care if they got hurt on the battlefield.

Save your cooors, Unearthly - I was chagrined to hear that Tony is a big ol' mysogynist. Not the type to be welcome at our festival, Darling.

Omg

Sealed knot

Vikings and celts (woad substituted with quink)

Camper vans on bricks

Pony rides and archery

Me and deja singing and drumming

Leftover Xmas cider

Time team (cooor lookit that Tony)

This is shaping up one awesome festival.

Chris, I'd never do that, it was a joke!!!

I won't be sleeping anyway, what with mad dogs, Shetland ponies, vikings, nuns, re enactments, Quakers, drums (!) dc everywhere refusing to go to bed, rock bands, choirs, surly teens nicking smokes and cider, time team people, angry villagers:)

It'll be great! Can't wait:)

Dunno - where was it? If in Wales not likely. DP gets a sinus attack west of Offa's Dyke

I'm a ginger, DP is tall, salt&pepper bearded, walks a little funny and has the second most gorgeous pair of blue eyes on the planet (since DS (3.8 and blonde) was born).

BTW, we came up with the Time Team drinking game. Every time you hear the R-word, you have to have a drink. If you utter the R-word, you have to have two. But after a weekend where my friends nearly killed me we've changed the rules to "drink, or big juicy kiss to the nearest person" (which cut right down on some piss-taking utterers)(who were seated next to the wrong gender).

Just something to consider after your blessed delivery.

Lavender, nobody can have my bed, I love my bed. But I suppose I could let you have the room and I'll put my bed in a shed :(

Screenshots are already taken. Oh yes. I will do my research before march. Thanks for all the links.

Ooh metal detectors! Bet we find medieval cavalry and the whole of the land gets protected and dug up.

I'll raise your "tents of the past century" (with my Saxon geteld and two - TWO - single-pole pavilions), Jux and see and raise your Sealed Knot LadyFlumpalot by offering all my Viking friends, who like few things better than a good campfire, a good quaff and dispensing justice.

Kick some ass FYChris.

Just looked on www. Horse trust.org.uk

Abandonment is different to fly grazing where a person deliberately uses a persons land for free.

If a horse has been abandoned, you shouid report it to the police who will establish ownership. It might be you in the event of nasty lady saying although she took care of the horse, out if the goodness of her heart, provided him with her horse as a companion etc.

This would be a good thing to do , in case she comes back when he has gone with a letter maybe and wants compensation.

Do it now, not at the end of the notice period. Then if you decide to pts you can to suit you. Don't be there, and arrange for the body to be removed before you get back. Horses trust might be worth a call.

Screen shot all the fb pages.

Looking forward to the festival! So kind of you Chris:) won't it be cold in march though? You're so nice I'm sure you give up your bed for me and the dc:) or not, now you are being all assertive:)

Just remembered! We also have a telescope and a metal detector. Not very good ones, so probably best employed by the space age branch of the Sealed Knot, or interesting things to bury for liquidstate's friends to dig up.
