Hi, I've had 2 healthy babies with no problems during pregnancy.
Me & my husband decided to try for 1 more baby, I've been off the pill for 12 months, within that period of time I have fell pregnant 4 times, unfortunately each pregnancy ended at 6 weeks.
My GP has done lots of different blood tests for clotting etc... but all results came back fine. I've also had an ultrasound internal scan to check my ovaries etc... which was also fine.
My GP has now refered me to St James Hosptial Leeds, to the Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic, which my appointment is 4th october!
I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience as me or has also been refered to St James Hospital Leeds??? smile

mrsjbarlow, know exactly what you are going through. I have a gorgeous and extremley boistrous boy, will be 2 in october, and this year I have had two miscarriages, never got past 7 weeks. feel as though everyone is getting pregnant ( as i am but not sucessfully! ) and feel like it will never happen again for us. Now at the point where I dont want to go through this again ( last miscarriage i bled for 3 weeks despite only being 4 weeks pregnant and had ERPC with second miscarriage ) one thing i am wondering though, and hoping the consultant will clear it up for me ( have now been referred, finally! ) when i had my son , 3 days after the birth a mammouth bloot clot , it was the size of an orange! had to go to a+e where doc said, it was normal though very very large!! wondering now if i have a problem with clotting and wonder if clexane will help ???

This may be of no help whatsoever as my miscarriages have been much later but my consultant in Switzerland swears by testing vitamin levels. A shocking number of women who have already had and breastfed children are deficient in vitamin a which is not recommended in pregnancy but causes heart defects that are fatal...

NW20 the babies sex is determined at conception. I have had a similar suggestion that my 3 miscarriages have all been girls but I guess there is no way to know for sure.

Good luck to all of you, I am keeping my fingers crossed for some good news for us all soon xx

Ps - most NHS recurrent miscarriage units don't investigate immune issues. (NK cells.) you may have to go private for this and it's expensive to have the tests, but the medication itself is cheap.

hi, i've got one little boy who's now 3 years old, and arrived without any difficulty; then i had four miscarriages in a row. it has been a really traumatic, horrible experience. I'm now 21 weeks pregnant (yay!) after a long battle and all sorts of investigations, that didn't reveal anything conclusive but gave some pointers as to what might have been going wrong. this time i've been having daily injections of blood thinners (clexane) for possible blood clotting issues (through the nHS) and took steroids for the first three months, for a possible immune reaction to pregnancy. anecdotally, immune reactions seem to be more common among women who've given birth to boys, but there are no statistics on this!please don't give up on your dream.

Sorry you're going through this.
We started trying for our second baby when DD1 was 2 and a half. Like with my first pregnacy, I was pregant that very first month after stopping the pill. I thought everything would go as well as my first pregnancy but then proceeded to have 5 miscarriages(including one set of twins) in a period of 3 and a half years.
I got pregnant again April 2009 and started to mc again! but managed to somehow miraculously keep the baby after the doctor started giving me daily progesterone shots -- although even he said he had no idea how baby number 2 kept on growing with the amount I was bleeding (sorry for TMI :P).
DD2 is now 8 months old and a real little madam.
So what I wanted to say was don't lose hope. It's awful and heartbreaking and unfair... but things can work out.

My friend has had exactly the same problem, she has been for many tests and they can't find anything wrong, but one consultant did say to her that it is possible she can only carry girls and miscarries boys.
This sounded strange to me as all her miscarriages were before 12 weeks and I didn't think that they made up their mind what sex they were until then, but he is the expert I guess.

Sorry, no actual advice. Hugs for you though.

Hi all,
I'm exactly the same, two beautiful, boisterous boys then 4 m/cs, in fact got erpc in the morningSad I had a very uncaring consultant who didn't test for anything BUT today the EGU finally took bloods to test. I hope I'll get some answers.

It seems so common on here to have had 2 ok pregnancies then m/c over and over, what has changed in our bodies?? (apart from stretch marks and a big bum in my case!!)

Good luck everyone x

Hi Mrs JB,
V. strange timing i just posted almost the same thing under the recurrent miscarriage thread!
I had 2 miscarriages then 3 healthy pregnancies and then 3 consecutive early missed miscarriages. All ended at about 5 wks but i never start bleeding so had to have ERPC's with all.

Am really sorry this is happening to you too, its horrible isnt it? Have had all the normal tests at my local hospital, clotting ,chromosome etc. All clear same as you. Will maybe push to be referred to St Marys RMC clinic but feel time is running out for me as am nearly 40. Good luck i hope you get some answers.

I have had the same experience as you, but had two healthy boys then 3 miscarriages.
I had all the blood tests etc, which showed nothing wrong.
My consultant is a strong believer in injecting with Clexane, even if there is nothing highlighted as wrong in the tests, as it has shown to have a higher "take home baby " rate even then.
I did this when I fell pregnant for the 6th time in Feb 2007 (the month after my 3rd miscarriage). I now have a very stroppy (but gorgeous) nearly 3 year old!
If this option is suggested to you, I would say go for it, there is nothing to lose, it isn't as bad as people thing, to inject yourself
Good Luck
