Menopause

Just realised that I haven't had a period for maybe 3 months - is that it?

Not PG. Am 44. No other symptoms/signs of anything.

Am assuming start of menopause. Feels a bit odd!

Just been searching for a thread like this. I'm 40, periods have been erratic since having DD three and a half years ago. I had clomid to get pregnant as low progesterone. I haven't had a period for three months now and have been getting hot flushes. Am getting worried this is early menopause? Am going to get GP appointment. Just wondered any thoughts? Thanks

Thanks girlnextdoor.

Bugger. Perhaps I had better do something about it then.

well, it does happen- but not that young!

I didn't miss a period til 51 and then they have been off and on for the last 2 years- that, according to my gynae, is "average-ish".
Average age of meno in UK is 51.5years.

Really?

I just thought it was what happened. Thanks for the advice.

Orm- have you seen your GP?

If you are having meno, then you would need HRT to protect against osteoporosis- you are at much greater risk if you have meno before 45.

43 is pretty young- "Normal" is 45- 55.

I am 53 and think i might have just had last period, but you never know!
My bones are already thinning, and I am on a healthy eating/exercise regime for this as well as being cared for by a gynae.

Take it seriously.

Me too. No period for three months now. Cycle was always a bit all over the place anyway. I'm 42 and am assuming I am perimenopausal. God that makes me feel seriously middle aged.

Hope the appointment clears it up for you.

I've been having irregular periods for a year or so now. I'm 43. Last one was about 7 weeks after the previous one. I might go back to normal or I might get one in a fortnight. I am assuming it's menopause.

Hmmm. Been thinking. Also hoarse on and off even when I don't have a cold and have been losing more hair than I feel is normal for me. Could be thyroid so have appointment to check it out today.

Could be all kinds of things really. Hormones a bit wonky, thyroid problems, stress - lots of things can cause loss of periods.

GP can do some blood tests and see what they show up.
