Low-carb bootcamp

12 April - the next Low Carb Bootcamp as we leave lockdown!

As ever, Bootcamp will last for 10 weeks. Starting on 12 April means we'll finish on 20 June, just in time (very hopefully, and keeping everything crossed) for all lockdown rules to be eased.

Yes, it's a support group - massively supportive.

Before we start, probably next week, I'll post a thread with lots of advice about preparing for Bootcamp, and then each week we have a chat thread, including our fantastic spreadsheet which is lovingly maintained and curated by @AthelstaneTheUnready.

On the spreadsheet, as well as using this to record our weight (you don't have to do this if you don't want to!) you'll find lots of different resources, including Bootcamp rules and a carb counter as well as links to different books, websites, videos etc.

People use the chat threads for all kinds of things - some to record their daily menus, some to ask for advice, some to share how they're feeling and some just to chat and lark around!

However people use it, it really does help people to stick with it and achieve great results. The amount people lose varies - it obviously depends on how much they had to lose to start with, but there are at least 5 Bootcampers (could be more as not everyone wants to go on the spreadsheet) who have lost more than 20lbs during this Bootcamp. Including one who has lost just over 2 stones!

Thanks for the info @BIWI. I’ve just lost 21lb in 5 weeks on a very strict Keto diet (with still 5.5 stone to go) and it would be lovely to chat with others. It’s definitely slowing down now so I think I’m going to need additional motivators now that I’m not seeing instant progress on the scales. Looking forward to it.

I feel seen BIWI Grin

From what I've seen, there's typically a broad spectrum of posters. Some are really good cooks who do unspeakable things with bone marrow, for example. You'll equally find a place if you're multi-tasking throwing something beige at your DC whilst whipping up another omelette.

There are a few acronyms and abbreviations that it helps to know (imho):

BC: bootcamp
FLGV: Fuck load of green veg
KOKO: keep on keeping on
NSV: Non-scale victory (like better skin or losing inches)
STS: stayed the same
IF: intermittent fasting (not part of BC Wink, but some more experienced bootcampers do it, as far as I can see)

There's probably loads more, but I know BIWI is often worried it can seem cultish, so that's one of my vanishingly rare serious contributions...

Hi, I’m going to sign up again. I signed up last year around this time and lost 9lbs which I’ve kept off. I signed up for the one just finished and didn’t lose any weight whatsoever, as I didn’t follow as strictly as I should have, but oddly I have lost 3 inches off my waist!

I’m hoping to lose a bit more weight before summer so have to try really hard this time.
