Hello everyone,

I haven't been on here much recently as I'm "training" for the London Marathon. I say training ... in between looking after ds (3.5 yrs), going to work, going to counselling (to still try and get over @rse of an ex!).

I have always wanted to do the marathon ... not sure why, I'm not a runner, wouldn't even say I'm a jogger, guess I've become a good walker since ex went and took the car with him!

I am running on behalf of Childline and need to raise £1800 for them. If anyone has any suggestions for fundraising or would like to make a donation please feel free!! I have a Just Giving website set up at: www.justgiving.com/JOANNEHARDING Any amount or any general support from fellow Mumsnetters would be hugely appreciated !!

Yeah I did hae to pee ... they have portaloos around the course but after about 5 miles they were soooo disgusting (lots of people lose control of their bowels apparently during a marathon ) ... and by about 15 miles I wouldn't have been able to stop without my legs seizing up so I had to keep going then!

good luck benbenandme. Remember to try and take a drink at all the water stations as I think the forecast is for it to be hot tomorrow.
Do you have a hat to run in to keep the sun off your head?

really hope you enjoy it - that's the most important thing.

A huge amount of good luck from me and to everyone doing it. I have just started running and did a 5k race on Friday night which was scary as it was full of club runners and no one else. The marathon always looks like great fun and it is so inspiring.

You are right about getting away from an arse of an X by running . I listen to my ipod and think every step takes me further away from any last bit of our marriage! It makes me stronger. Huge amounts of positive thoughts from me and well done for even trying it. Let us know what happens.

Well ... its almost here and I'm petrified! I have had a knee injury so am not too sure how its gonna go on the day but the thoughts of my ex telling me I'd never do it "because you're too lazy / couldn't be arsed" etc etc will hopefully keep me going till the end!!

So for all of us on here who have been treated badly by our ex's ... I will keep plodding on !!!

Thank you all for the support !! I am finding the training is really helpful in giving me something to focus on intead of going over what an @rse my ex is !! I tend to go on the treadmill once ds has gone to bed ... am planning on walking most of it so I tend to put a dvd on and then walk away!!

Well done. Keep going. I take my hat off to you as a lone parent trying to fit in the training. I did it in 2000, before I was a mum. Hated the training but loved the day. You have my utmost admiration. Where do you find the time? Good luck x

Good luck to Ben & MB on the FLM.

I did it last year, again it was something I'd always wanted to do and finally did it approaching 40 yrs.

Keep working hard at the training and on the days when you findf it hard just think about the money that you will raise.

It will be an experience you will never forget and the moment you cross the finish line will stay with you forever !

hi benben, im running the FLM too! Hurrah for us! Have u got a blog on realbuzz? Its hard work isn't it? training? Ive been running for sometime but stepping it up to that next level is tough. Finding time is the hardest part, but where there is a will there's a way! Its great to be doing it for charity though, gives it all more meaning!

Best of luck. Will try and donate a little something when i get paid nxt month. Keep bumping this, so that enough people see it.

Keep on keeping on.
