Charity Zumbathon - 24th March - Raising Money for Birmingham Childrens Hospital

Hi Everyone

24th March 2019 we are hosting a Zumbathon Fundraiser at Five Star Community Centre in Darlaston WS10 8JG to raise money for Birmingham Children’s hospital specifically ward 10.
In addition to the 90 minute Zumbathon we will have a few stalls and will be hosting a raffle with some fantastic prizes including tickets to the theatre, A signed WBA football, toys, lots of different vouchers for days out amongst much more. We also have a pair of Olly Murs Concert tickets we will be auctioning off!

Everyone is welcome so bring all your family and friends for a fun afternoon!

£5 admission
Children under 12 £3.50
Under 3 - Free

Join us from 2pm with Zumba starting at 2.30pm-4pm

The bar will be open for refreshments during and after.

Why are we doing it?

27th March 2019 will mark 12 months since our beautiful little boy Alfie had to undergo major surgery to reconstruct his skull at 13 months old due to a rare condition called Craniosynstosis.

Whilst it was the most traumatic and devastating situation to be in as a parent to have to put our child through something so horrific, we don’t want to reflect on what we went through 12 months ago as a negative but to focus more on the positives. Alfie is a healthy, happy and brave little boy as a result of the outstanding skilled surgical team that undertook the operation and the supportive and helpful medical staff on the ward that not only ensured Alfie stayed on track but ensured us as parents were ok. Alfie was looked after better then we could of ever imagined. After 4 nights Alfie was allowed home to continue his recovery. And now.... well nobody would know any different 😊

The ward itself had some lovely facilities such as a play room, soft play and some sensory bits and bobs for the children. They had ‘entertainment’ come around the beds such as therapy pets, singing and music teams and they had play staff on site to engage the children.

As Birmingham Children’s hospital is only 1 of 4 supra centres that specialise in this craniofacial treatment, We want to raise money for ward 10 so they can continue to do the good work that they do and continue to offer the fantastic facilities they have on site so that other little brave boys and girls and their families that are in the same position we were in a year ago can have the same experience that we did.
