we have been told they have places starting Sept. Does anyone have any opinions (good or bad) about this school or living near it?

It also seems that GEMS Wellington in SO (opening sept) have places. I know it's new but anyone have opinions.

Thank you

Hi

I have a friend who has a daughter due to start this school in September, and she is very happy about it!

It is British Curriculum not Indian.

Escape my kids are at JESS too!

The GEMS schools are very nice, my children are at a GEMS school for summer camp at the moment, and from what I have seen of the school, it is very well equipped and has fab facilities.

What you have to remember about schools in Dubai (except for about 2 or 3 non profit schools) is that they are businesses, and the GEMS schools are big business, and some people do seem to have a problem with this.

From what I have seen of the schools, and I have a few friends with children in GEMS schools, I would be happy to send my children to one.

I would take the places you have been offered, as the schools are now finished for summer here, and it will be difficult to get the children in anywhere else before September.

You can always check out other schools once you get here.

Sorry, maybe you are already in Dubai, but somehow I didn't get that from your post?

There are educational consultants you can pay to help - it's their job top know and to guide you - could be worth the investments at this stage. we moved 'quickly' to Dubai and despite my husband's company 'owning' debentures at JESS, it still took 2 terms before they got places..

I think Gems Royal might have an Indian Curriculum (could be wrong)
Gems Wellington in Silicon Oasis will have lovely new sparkly facilities - they are renowned however for pasing the cost onto the parents and then some, so fees will be high. When the Gems World Academy school opened 2 (ish) years ago, their fees made them the most expensive school in Dubai - this is irrespective of quality of education. EW most definitely the place for real time info on schools in dubai - although one womans' school meat is anothers poison on there ;)
