Not really sure if this is the right place to post... but I need to know how long to keep paperwork?

I have SOOOO much crap many documents - often back to houses we no longer own, accounts we no longer have etc.,

When is it OK to bin the lot of it? (Obviously I will shread it!!)

I'm holding on to bank account statements from 10 years ago... I need to let it go!!

Please tell me it's Ok to shread it all?

thanks,

HM

Shred shred shred!

Keep a years worth of bank statements if you are thinking of moving house or upping you mortgage, as for paper work for old house and accounts you don?t have shred away!

The only time you need to keep information about closed accounts is if you or your OH are higher rate tax payers or self employed and earned interest that you?ll need to declare on your tax return.

Keep P60?s, but don?t worry about the wage slips once you?ve got your P60 (you probably know that)

I love a good clear out!

Enjoy your shredding
