Powers of Attorney question

I know that Enduring Powers of Attorney have been replaced by the 2 different Lasting Powers of Attorney.

My question is whether an existing Enduring Power of Attorney would still be valid and could still be registered?

My MIL has just been given a not if, but when diagnosis. She is still mentally sharp as a tack and could theoretically execute new LPOAs but it would be easier for all of us if the EPA could be used.

I will let DH know that. We are hoping that a care plan will be in place by the end of this week which will enable MIL to return home. DH plans to go and stay with her for a week or so while everything beds in. Hopefully BIL (who would be co-attorney / joint attorney) will also be around then and they can get the process started.

Just so you're aware, the Office of the Public Guardian typically take about 8 weeks to deal with registration, so it may be as well to register sooner rather than later.

When DH returns home tomorrow (MIL is in hospital 95 miles from where we live) I'll talk to him about starting the registration process just in case it's needed.
