Jeremy Vine right now - about rape within marriage....

....I'm intrigued. He started the show with an email from 'Jane', read by an actress, about how her husband rapes her regularly.

Now this seems very topical with the BNP agenda at the moment.....am I being cynical in thinking that the email from Jane probably isn't real?

I suspect it's a clever way of raising the issue, and good on whoever came up with it, it's an important issue that needs to be brought to people's attention.

But I can't help thinking if I was experiencing this, writing to Jeremy Vine wouldn't be my first port of call. What do other people think? Am I being cynical?

His wife a MN'er? And his mistress..or is that just Andrew Marr? Talentless egomaniacs at every turn at the Beeb thesedays.

I imagine someone on the programme is a Mumsnetter and has sent him the link.

Social services act on evidence of abuse which is not necessarily proven in a court. If they were obliged to wait until abuse was proven in court many more children would suffer prolonged abuse and/or die, given that the court process is always long, and that testimony from children is very hard to obtain in a way that convinces courts. Family courts likewise, and this also applies to evidence of domestic violence.

Well, he does have kids of his own. Oh let him be a Mumsnetter, please!

Of it was Vile Vine, I think we just caught him out googling himself!

Yes, best kept away from imo. I do love Jeremy. That couldn't really have been him on MN earlier, could it?

I guessed that DG, there was another thread recently about it, I said there are hardly any of them anyway and it takes a brave kind of man to come and hang around on here...

Have just had a quick look actually but not going to get involved - looks like my POV is pretty much covered

No no, the OP's opinion is that men are an unnecessary evil (well on MN anyway).

LovelyTinOfSpam · 10/06/2009 21:40

Oooh I'm off for a search...

There are only a handful of men who post on here regularly so it seems like it might be an interesting thread...

The one about men raping Mumsnet .... oh no sorry, men dominating Mumsnet (apparently )

Might be lighter than the other debate I am involved in here on MN.

Was that really Jeremy Vine? God I love that man. I listen to his show most days but missed the rape in marriage feature today. I might even add to my obsession by seeing if I can hear it now online...

Ahem, if that really was Jeremy Vine, I'll have you know 'twas I who posted the original thread not believing in 'Jane', not Custardo.

Tsk.

plus the BNP will doubtless be among that particular breed of person who assert that if the conviction rate is 6%, that means 94% of accusers (victims) are lying. And should be sent to prison for wasting police/court time.

Report
totalmisfit · 10/06/2009 20:16

let's not forget we live in a country where only 6% of reported rapes result in a conviction.

Sadly, the BNP are only stating openly the opinions held by those who allow this absurd and frankly terrifying status quo to prevail year after year.

This is going to go all Tony Parsons, isn't it? I'm out of here you fawning losers!!

oh my god, just as corrective - I can't stand the man. He personfies everything that has gone wrong at the Beeb.
