I can't help but feel sorry for her but if I am honest, I also think "well you should have expected it". He has a talent for moving on to someone younger/richer etc....what a cad!

Thing is, Della and now Anthea both really loved him despite his failings - I pity any female he is involved with.

The thing is.

Yes affairs do happen
Yes people do leave their partners and marry the afairee (?? !!)

BUT

Where she made everything one hundred times worse was

Having a huge wedding
Selling the photos to a magazine
Writing a book in detail about the affair and the first time their lips touched bollox.

And generally rubbing Della and the childrens nose in it.

A quiet wedding with a couple of witnesses and slink out of the limelight to live happily (or not in this case) ever after.

She played it wrong. She stole another woman's husband, and expect the world to be nothing other than delighted with the fact. How stupid could she be. And he is an arseholio of course too.

And I agree whole heartedly about the dusty box in the attic. Maybe she can make a few bob suing the DM for starters. She must be 'Disgusted of Esher' or wherever she lives.

Grin Cashmere very true.

I think the snowflake photo just looked particularly tacky, probably because of the way Bovey is leering cheesily in the shot.

I've got as far as the first line of the DM article.

Tucked away in a dusty box in her attic...

Anthea really should sue for this sort of libel. I'm sure her attic would be nothing less than immaculate.

Where would the Daily Mail be without Mumsnet, Twitter etc? They might actually have to do some real journalism.

That said would be quite happy to meet Anthea to see that t-shirt folding in the flesh! Grin

I'm torn on this.

On the one hand, if you acquire your husband as the result of an affair, it shouldn't come as a surprise if he then cheats on you with someone else.

Still, I think she has been given harsher treatment than others who have done the same thing. As far as Flakegate goes, she was one of the first to have a sponsored wedding and people thought it was tacky especially given that her meeting with Bovey wasn't exactly Romeo and Juliet. Nowadays though, loads of slebs have endorsed personal events.

Bloody nora, I have made it to the DailyMail Grin

That was my quote they used.
MNHQ DO I GET A PRIZE?

So AT wants to meet with us who have commented to discuss the comments?
Anthea - What you needed to do was to say you have been a complete fool even getting involved with a married man in the first place. Tell people that you accept it was bang out of order to take another womans husband and the father away from 3 tiny children. Accept that karma has come back to bite you well and truly on the arse.
Then, you can build up a bit of respectabiulity, and get your life back on track. Leave him to get on with being the prat that he is, and be thankful that you are out of it.
I wish you well.

So much for her charidee work -read the last line Hmm

I hope she retires from TV gracefully. Another desperate stab at a reality show would be a step to far.

OMG just watched those t-shirt folding and towels clips and am obsessed with seeing more of Anthea's domestic goddess tips. How did I miss this programme!!! Its so bonkers its brilliant.

I know I shouldn't but I do feel sorry for her. Obv never met him but always thought Bovey was a sleazy womaniser (see James Hewitt) who liked the buzz of a fling with a high-profile TV star (as Anth was then) and then relished the high life and celeb status/friends through Anthea. Yes, she did wrong, takes two to tango etc but it does seem like the poor cow just fell hopelessly in love with him and couldn't help herself. At the end of the day Brangelina did the same and everyone pretty much got over it much sooner. He was basically responsible for wrecking her career and there was something v sad at seeing her reduced to showing people how to fold towels. She paid a very high price for love but ironically this humiliation might redeem her slightly in the eyes of the public and she might be able to rebuild her career.

Would love Bovey to be cut adrift and be declared bankrupt but expect being a grade A shit he will try and fleece Anthea for everything he can get.

I did the tshirt folding thing and didn't like it. I like everything tucked inside and this way one sleeve is loose underneath. It makes it difficult to get one out of the pile as it messes up the one on top and creases the loose sleeve.

I'd be surprised if Anthea really did fold her tshirts that way.

I instructed DH in the art of towel folding à la Anthea, but he struggles with the concept of no edges so they look worse than before! But now I can't get him to stop.

My husband saw the towel folding thing and said she's spent too much time with squaddies, as that's the way they are taught.

Bovey is a fucking slimeball who makes me shudder. Anthea is alright I do not own any of her books/DVDs, oh no

I like Anthea Turner. I know the whole affair thing was a bit Hmm but I can almost justify it by the fact she clearly loved the man, it was not some flash in the pan thing made out of a woman thinking she can just take what she wants because she was famous. These things happen and that's that - they do. They were together a long time and as others have said, his children clearly love her so she must have been a great Stepmum to them.
Didn't they go through bankruptcy as well? And she stayed there with him and they sorted that out. That is very telling as if she was at all shallow, she would have fled off at no money and started over on her own perhaps?
I think the man is a p**ck. At least his children are older now and more able to understand their father's behaviour... As the twattish behaviour that it is.

If she is moving - Anthea, if you are reading this and you go through the phase of wanting everything associated with the man gone (kids aside!) You know that great coffee maker you have in your kitchen..? The one we saw when you were teaching people how to be organised and clean up the house better... Yeah, that's the one - Pm me for my address, I will take that off your hands happily...

Good luck to her I say. She deserves a bit of happiness now.

the tshirt folding is a Japanese technique, but kudos to her for learning it. I spent ridiculous amounts of time watching someone on youtube doing it but I still couldn't get it right and threw the tshirt across the room in a fit of temper.

Can't bring myself to feel sorry for her due to the way they started.

I also don't think she can moan about what people say. if you make money selling your perfect life to the public, you can't really be surprised when the public have an opinion.
