certainly there is an axe to grind, I just hope they are able to get their point across - and that people aren't using the fact that their is a bereaved and emotional family looking for answers.

I would be very wary of assuming that the family are being used for political ends. It rather assumes that they have no political/ personal ends themselves, and that they have no idea that that might happen. I'd credit them with having the intelligence to know that some people with an axe to grind might want to use their tragedy to do so, on either side.

But frankly, the axe to grind here, is that the police should be open and honest. That's a pretty reasonable axe, imo.

how can the police be allowed to destroy evidence like this? i am seething about this - who on earth gave the command to shoot this man without even having solid proof of his identity? that person should be charged with manslaughter or possibly even murder.

There are two people - political activists - rehman and khan who are councilling and advising the family and advising on their media strategy. Rehman was a political advisor to George Galloway in the recent election and Khan a far left campagner. I know of khan from many years back and I would cynically say that this sounds like a ploy on their behalf.

I really hope that this poor family are not going to be used for individuals or their groups political gain but I fear it is already happening - poor family.

They want an end to the cover up - and good for them. Doubt they'll get it though

All those pictures of the second lot of London bombers were from LT CCTV, surely, hunker? Nothing wrong with those pictures - you could see exactly what they looked like.

This whole situation is unbelievable. Why can't they just hold their hands up and say yes, we messed up, here's how it happened and we will do our very best to stop it happening again? They are digging their hole deeper and deeper with all this.

Oh they've done much worse in the past. Not just hidden or eradicated evidence, made it up, in some cases.

They're less corrupt than they used to be.

scary if that is true..and police can just 'erase' evidence which isn't in their favour..makes me shudder to think about what else they could do
i never thought it would come to such a situation in our country tbh

I'd want it blasted over the world - 'look what they did to my son'.

Their son was shot, they're grieving, they're devastated. Why not want it shown?

The police have apparently 'lost' the CCTV footage. They demanded the tapes from London Underground and have returned them saying 'sorry, they were blank'. Very suspicious as there were four cameras and no record that anything was wrong with any of them, according to LUL. And it has been known for police forces to conveniently 'lose' embarrassing CCTV evidence before. Looks as if police have wiped the tapes; or just given back blank tapes and destroyed the originals.

Court case I was on the jury for had CCTV footage from London Underground. If it's not changed since then, you'd be lucky to recognise yourself on it...if the cameras were pointing the right way.

I think they probably want it published so that the visual image of what happened overrides the already deep-seated idea of the lies that were told initially about what happened.

Whenever people talk about this, they still mention the guy jumping the barrier. We now know that that did not happen. The only way people are going to get that mental image out of their heads, is if the image is replaced by a real one, of what did happen.

Well I think we can all be horrified enough..
I have been gripped by this story and can't believe the met's handling of it
I just don't see how it would help for everyone to see cctv of the actual events..
we can all imagine (once the truth is actually clarified)..what happened.

I think it's important for people to know what goes on and to learn from it.

I would in these circumstances tbh.

no..i understand them wanting to see, and i am sure they will when it reaches court, but from what they said i thought they meant release to general press
i wouldn't want my close family members last fatal minutes beamed all over the world press

don't see why that's strange tbh ... I think it makes perfect sense for a grieving family to want everyone to see exactly what happened

Report

WHy not? I cant say I blame them and cant see what's strange about it.
