Our spare room used to be the junk room office but now is DS2 bedroom!

We used to have an overflowing filing cabinet but now we have no room for one so what to do with all the paperwork - wage slips, instruction leaflets, insurance documents, and all the other random pieces of paper that i just can't throw away.

What do other people do (especially those ultra tidy people!) and how to keep on top of the mountain of paper

Oh yeah and how long to keep wage slips, insurance documents, etc

Thanks from under a pile of paper

tidy out your filing cabinet keeping only paperwork relevant to this year. I keep all my wage slips, but generally only file the past years bank/credit card slips. Keep all your P60s/tax code things. Keep all instructions for household fixtures and guarantees etc - you never know when you may need them (also useful to leave if you move house).

My household papers take up 2 drawers in a 4 drawer cabinet - ok they are tightly packed as the top 2 drawers are for my business papers!!! It is hard to keep on top of it at times, but usually try to deal with it when its in your hand! - put the new TV licnese in & take the old one out and shred everything with your name, address, DOB, etc.

I cannot think of an alternative to a filing cabinet - I think you still need one, but maybe a smaller one?? It may fit into a wardrobe or cloakroom???
