So today I have...
Decluttered my clothes, shoes, drawers and wardrobe,
Deep cleaned the bathroom,
Washed and remade all beds,
Hoovered properly upstairs,
Decluttered and organized the airing cupboard,
Cleared out huge upstairs cupboard and reorganized,
Made room for all the dds new Christmas presents (sneaked out two no bags full of crap in order to make room!!)
7 bin bags of crap have left the house today, is it sad that I'm really excited!Grin
Starting downstairs tomorrowWine

1 large bin bag to charity shop.
Next one half full and will go next week.
Christmas stuff back in the loft.
So glad that we only had 2 tubs of choc and 1 box of biscuits this year- almost gone now- last year we had a cupboard full.
Started sorting out the dreaded paperwork, one bagful shredded and recycled so far.
Clothing was decluttered before Christmas.

Did more drawer tidying last night and plan to continue today. It feels good to be making space and folding everything à la Konmari.

Going to tackle behind and on top of the chair in the corner of the sitting room today too. It's piled high with clothes and behind it there's cushions that went with the decor in a previous colour scheme, a magazine holder full of papers / old catalogues and knitting Blush I call this chair the 'virgin chair', it looks as new as the day we bought it because nobody sits on it (I wonder why Grin)

Still have to tackle the tupperware, that's also on my hitlist today.

What are your plans?

I'm going to start decorating today, just aiming to do all the cutting in on the stairs and landing and it'll be a bonus if I get any more doneSmile

Morning!

We are having a day out today and so probably won't get anything done.

I am going to try and box up some stuff that's in bags and destined for the loft later if I can be arsed though, just so I feel like I've not wasted a day.

I'm loving this thread it's making me do things! Let's keep it going.

Martin your Virgin chair sounds like my old dining table. That's why I got rid of it, it was a dumping ground rather than a place to sit and eat.

hoopy we did the first coat of ours on NYE. The hall/stairs/landing is a right bugger to paint isn't it? Lots of cutting in and awkward bits!

Need to find time to do the second coat now. Impossible when my 2yo is around though.

hoopyloopycow · 03/01/2016 08:44

Yes basin, it's not an easy paint job. I figured I'd get all the awkward bits out of the way first!

Good luck with the painting hoopy Grin
I plan on getting all my washings up to date and clothes put away and then unpacking the rest of my kitchen and sorting what things I really need and what I have doublers of etc.

50 people squeezed into our 2 bed house. how on earth did we do it. good thing we got rid of a few things first Grin Good party though and at least it used up nearly all the surplus paper plats and plastic party cups we had lying about so it helped declutter.

Need to get started on things again now I've cleared up from that though still not moved all the furniture back - shoved back to the walls to make space.

Someone wants DS's old cot so that should be going later in the week. MIL has been through my huge odd sock back and found 32 pairs of socks the rest are going in the bin as I'm sick of them haning around. Also managed to palm of DDs old school uniform on one of yesterday's visitors so another bag gone.

Well done loopy!

I've got to wait till the weekend when some friends are going to watch DS for a few hours to get any more painting done.

Had a horrific day today (DS was a nightmare) so didn't do anything when we got home and seriously cannot be arsed to start now.

How's everyone doing?

Getting up now to get stuck in and get a few jobs done. Last day before DC's go back to school so also have to get ready for that!

Did another drawer last night, another bag for charity filled.

Finishing clearing off the 'virgin chair' today so it can be used as somewhere to sit Grin

How's the painting going hoopy?

I'm back to work tomorrow after a year on Mat leave. House is still a bit of a disaster after the move but getting there slowly.
My larder arrived yday so just waiting for hubby to build it and I can get my kitchen counters cleared.
Also need to sort getting a dishwasher installed.

Plan for today is to make sure all wShings are up to date and put away and that clothes for me and dd are laid out for the morning and all bags are packed.
Have ordered some kitchen organisation stuff from Lakeland and a new shredder as ours died last week.
Have also made up a new chores rota for keeping on top of the house when I'm back at work.

Didn't do any painting today, will wait until dh is out of the way!
I sorted through all the toys I couldn't touch last week (odd Barbie shoes and unrecognisable pink plastic items anyone?)
Got the washing done and general tidying. I've found tidying up is so much quicker and easier now I'm not fighting with a cupboard every time I open one!

That sounds really productive Hoopy. Well done. I've managed to get all the washings done and now just need to put them away when dd2 wakes from her nap. Having some cake, hot Choc and movie time with dd1 while we have peace.

Not got very far recently but have sort of started again.

I took the christmas tree down today and sorted through the 4 years worth of cards in the bottom of the decorations box. I've ditched the majority and just kept some that the children may find interesting for one reason or another later on. Not just a small respectable pile left instead of about 300 cards.

Also popped out earlier to see solicitor and before I went made myself fill a carrier bag with stuff for the charity shop and dropped it off on the way so a little more gone :)

I dropped the old Christmas cards in the charity recycling bin at Morrisons.
Food shopped.
Cleared out the cupboards in the utility room and cleaned the floors of my wardrobes.
Recycling bin was collected today too.
Did half the kitchen cupboards yesterday.
Rest tomorrow and bathroom storage. Then I'm pretty much done for the 'extras'. I love to declutter, means it's easy to keep clean and tidy.

Been having yet another building works crisis so have been focused on that and getting back to work this week so haven't got any more done yet.

Got a hospital appointment this morning and a doctors appointment this afternoon and I've got to try and squeeze in some working from home time today too so won't get anything done but I did put a wash on before I left the house this morning at least!

Have arranged friend to have DS for a few hours at the weekend so we can get the second coat of paint on the hallway though, and hopefully strip the box room wallpaper.

Filled a box of clothes for charity shop and bin bag for recycling yesterday. Still have more to sort through.

Having wisdom tooth op next week so I expect to be groggy after GA and am trying to get as much done as possible this week.

Decorations still up as it's Little Christmas here today.

Good idea to keep old cards in the decoration box lists. I like to keep the ones from Grandparents and Aunties and Uncles as the DC's might like them when they are older but never know where to store them.

Very little today.

I found a few books for charity shop pile. I've been through DD's drawers and found a small pile of outgrown clothes for charity shop. Went through bedside cupboard but amazingly it was relatively tidy, just binned a few outdated toiletries.

Oh and I found big selection boxes I'd forgotten to put in DCs stockings in my bedside table. I took away the packaging and replenished my secret chocoolate tin with a dozen bars of chocolate. Since no one else knows they exist they are fair game

DH took another bag into work with him this morning to drop off to the charity shop on his lunch hour. I am kind of doing the 'bag a day' (and more!) that I had signed up to in another thread in December but never got round to doing.

This morning I have to make the dinner (to save time tonight) and sew on badges to a scout sweatshirt and go to the bank but I am going to attack another drawer or cupboard! I am not stopping until I feel satisfied.

Only rooms that fill me with absolute dread are the utility room and playroom (it's a dump Sad) Some of this decluttering is hard with my helpful 2yo tailing me but he can't be my excuse (or else nothing will be done).

How's everyone else getting on?

Hi All!

Ended up having a mini sort out in the box room yesterday and getting a few bits up in the loft (dont worry, im very strict about what goes in my loft, it was summer clothes, some new pans we got from SIL for xmas that i want to save until i get my new induction hob, and a couple of boxes to things we have just got 'just in case' they need to be returned.

Chucked half a bag of summer clothes that quite frankly i am too old for now so thats a bit gone. And identified a couple of bits to go on gumtree (old TV and DVD player that were from our bedroom in the old house). will get them posted online later on.

only things in that room now are bedding for the sofabed which we just do not have any storage for at the moment sp im not sure what we are going to do with them as they need to be kept fairly accessible as MIL stays over once a week.

Got a bit more work to get done this afternoon (working from home again today) but in a minute im going to go and start strippng the box room walls! Everyone deserves a lunch break right? Grin

Bugger. Plaster behind old manky wallpaper is all blown and coming off in chunks. Was hoping to be able to avoid re plastering the entire room but oh well! 2 walls stripped, 2 to go. Should get those done at the weekend, and get the carpet and skirting up and in the builders skip before that disappears on Monday.

Well the estate agent came and photographed the house this morning. I love this house but we need to move. I had to shove A LOT in cupboards so it didn't look cluttered but at least I had space to put it in which I wouldn't have had a few weeks ago so the clear out is obviously having some affect

Nothing much today otherwise but house looks lovely as long as no one looks in drawers cupboard or cellar Grin.

We finally get a recycling collection tomorrow. They are normally fortnightly but haven't had one since 10th December so theres a lot of stuff.

BasinHaircut · 07/01/2016 17:28

I hate that lists! We've been really lucky and had all collections over the holidays.

Plus we've done 2 tip runs and chucked a bit in the builders skip (well I guess I am indirectly paying for it anyway) so have been able to keep on top of the rubbish!
