How often do you clean your oven?

I haven't cleaned my oven for over a year and now I'm regretting it, as I've now given it 5 applications of Mr Muscle oven cleaner and still some of the burnt bits aren't shifting! Anyway, I was just wondering how often most people clean their oven?

I spray the door every other week or Brillo pad it.

Then use oven cleaner every couple of months or less if I see its dirty. I bake a lot an pd it's one job I don't mind so much.

Never. But I cheat. I have a liner in the bottom which I replace when it gets dirty, I never put anything straight onto shelves only use baking trays and I use a dishwasher tablet to clean the door every other week or so. Oven is almost a year old.

I had a new cooker 3 years ago and vowed to clean it after every use... I have stuck to it. I do not miss that big smelly job of scrubbing it when it is so stinky and smoky when you turn it on. Thanks fly lady!!

I do mine every couple of weeks. Smile
But that's because I have a pyrolitic oven which is the best invention ever! You just put it on a pyro cycle, it heats to over 500 degrees, and reduces all the grime and grease to ash. When the cycle finishes, just wipe out the ash. I love it! I'll be very sad to leave my oven when we move house, I'd definitely buy another pyrolitic one.

Never! Well, I give it a wipe over if something drips but it never really gets dirty. I think it's because we're vegetarian so the worst that's going to happen is that a bit of cheese drips off a lasagne or something and that's easy enough just to wipe up, whereas my mum's oven gets covered in grease all over the inside from cooking roasts etc.

The inside of the door is a bit stained so I'm going to try the trick with the dishwasher tablet but it's only superficial staining, not dirt that would smoky.

The oven cleaning man comes 4 times a year. He's coming on Tuesday.

Another new oven owner here. I aim to clean it every time it's used, quick wipe over at least, so the times we're too busy don't really matter.

I do mine roughly every three-four months but the key is to get an oven blade like this

If you scrape all through your oven with the blade, sweep out the scrapings, use oven pride on the oven and racks in the bag. Rinse off in the morning job done.

Once all thats done i whack the grill on max and open doors/windows and let the fat etc all burn off the element, it wont smell or smoke after that. I've rented a trillion house in the last two years and i've perfected oven cleaning as i cant afford the oven man.

I clean it about once a month with a steam cleaner and wipe in between times.
I think once it gets to a certain stage it's impossible to get burnt grease and food off.

I also had the oven man come about 2 months ago. He did it without any harm chemicals (didn't smell a thing!) And it came out like new. It's somebody I know and I know they struggle for money so I am happy to pay him once or twice a year to save me the job. He charges £38 (in london) for the oven, hob, shelves etc. So I think it's a good price.
