Looking for best books for science middle grades(11-14) for extra studies

DS gets books from school but I am looking for excellent/not-to-be-missed kind of science books which covers middle school science. pls. suggest me if you know of any such books.

Usbourne books
They have sticker books which sounds childish but they are GCSE level and fun too. Great photos and simple explanatoons

Galore Park do some excellent books on science and on all other subjects up to about age 13 to 14 as well.
