Shall I paint this and if so what colour?

Bought this sideboard and now not sure!
Do has said he can sand it back or paint it what do you think we should do? If paint is matt or satin best and what colour do you think?
The front door will be white with clear frosted glass. Ignore the bits and pieces on the top just playing around with ideas at the moment.
Thanks for any help at all Smile

Could you re-pot the plant in a larger pot? One that hides the sockets at the bottom, and raised the plant up a bit. I think the proportion of heights isn’t quite right

Sorry! That wasn’t the point of the thread! Love your wallpaper samples!

I love an arsenic / turquoise or darker colour personally... 💙💚

White would be lovely! And versatile should you move house (or just move the furniture about) or change your colour scheme

I would paint it the darkest shade of green possible. Matte paint. Spray handles in a silver or gold to get a brushed metal effect

Hmm I would say a real or petrol colour but dont think that would go with your neutral decor. If playing safe I'd go white. It looks quite nice as it is tho.

I have swapped them round and that is a big improvement thanks!
Yesterday I ordered 3 rolls of different styles of wallpaper that are coming later today. I think I will have a look at them and then decide about painting it or not.

Also yes to swapping the plant and cupboard round so the cupboard sat directly under the window

I actually really like it how it is! If you did really want to paint it, then I think I’d be tempted to wait until the door was painted to see how it looks then.

A dark matt colour will show dust.

Love the idea of matte navy with gold handles. Looks really nice!

You could always swap it with the plant so it lines up with the window if moving it centally does not work.

If painting I would paint the top too. If you mix varnish with the paint it dries more hardwearing.

@tinkywinkyshandbag I don't really want to change the glass but the colours have faded half way down.
@Africa2go Amazon and I love wallpaper mostly.

Everyone who is saying move it to the centre, if I do I have to lose the plant and I like the plant and also there are ugly cables on the right.

First of all I would move it along under the window and put the plant at the other side but I am a perfectionist ;)

It looks really useful.
I have nothing against it as it is, but I would move it so that it is centred against the wall.

Can I ask where you're looking for wallpaper? Some of those are lovely?

I would also paint it. I think a dark colour would be fab - like a blue/black (Dock Blue from Little Greene kind of colour) with antique brass handles.

I’d put it in the middle, or against the left wall with the plant on the right.
