blinds and curtains together? stunt curtains?!

anybody done this successfully? i love the 'dressing' of the window with floor length curtains, but don't like having them closed as it cuts off all the heat from the radiators under the window. shorter sill length curtains not my cup of tea unfortunately

can i put wood slat venetian blinds with curtains, so i can close the blinds to keep the dark out but leave the curtains just as stunt curtains. alternatively roman blinds plus curtains?

our windows are quite recessed by about a foot so i think it would look a bit bare without curtains.

thoughts?

I've seen curtain with roman/roller blinds which looked fine. Not sure about gebitians though.

Curtains not designed to be closed are called dress curtains.

Yes, we've done this - you can also get away with a slightly narrower width of curtain as you won't ever close them, so 1.5 x the window width rather than the usual 2 x.

Sounds lovely. Great idea. I am doing something similar in a big bathroom with flow-y voiles and a blind. Love that you call them "stunt" curtains....I think they are called "faux" 😀, but I too amgoing to call them stunt curtains here on in!

We have vertical blinds and curtains, we use the blinds only in the summer and both in the winter.
