There's a really good play area in New Brighton, right on the front, next to the small outdoor fair and opposite the castle. It's advertised as the largest softplay in the North West!!

Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester has a very good children's section, with a small soft play type section in the corner suitable for toddlers.

i know of two in north-ish liverpool
time out at aintree - top notch equipment but direst of all dire catering, though there is a pizzahut same retail park thing
bit further north - Kidsplay at Birkdale. rather more refined, decent-ish cafe but smaller

other things
Liverpool Museum is fab, lots of handling collections, bits to play with, and a nice aquarium, nice cafes and its free.
Red Squirrels and beach at Formby Point

hth

what bring you to these parts?

Oh, and I know Liverpool reasonably well - have driven around it quite a lot now

I'll be based in Old Swan, L13, staying with relatives.

I'm happy to drive anywhere within reason, as they like being in the car.

I have been to Grandma's - ds1 really liked it, but it wasn't so good for ds2 - he's too old for the baby bit and nor old enough for the main playframe.

Any other ideas for days out would be welcome too .

as BL says depends where in liverpool you are going. there are lots in various wacky warehouse pubs but then there are a couple that are just for soft play like grandmas in hunts cross or there is a jungle gyms in warrington. Few others around about too.
