General health

illness around day 15-17 of cycle

I am on day 17 of my cycle and felt really strange this afternoon. I suddenly developed a bad stomach ache - not cramping or period pains, just a tummy ache, like if you've eaten something a bit rotten, and felt sick.
This isn't the first time it's happened.. last month roughly the same time of the month (ovulation time) I felt exactly the same... it lasted a few hours then I felt better.
It could, of course, be pure coincidence.
btw I have had 2 babies and am 40. Anyone else get the same or know what it might be?

Think about endometriosis. That can give you a sickening pain around ovulation. If you want more children it needs to be diagnosed and treated because it can make you infertile. Can only be diagnosed by laparoscopy but is very treatable. HTH

I sometimes get this too. I've done a fair bit of research on it because after I had the coil inserted I became so nauseous I could hardly get out of bed.

Apparently, getting nausea around ovulation time is not as uncommon as it may seem. It's a reaction of the body to the increased hormones that are around at ovulation time ( nausea at ovulation time ) and it's a similar thing to getting morning sickness. The pain is called mittelschmerz .

Anyway, that may be nothing to do with what you are feeling but just in case!

nutcracker - poor you 2 days is awful! I thought 2 hours of it was bad enough esp. with 2 young dd's when you cannot rest or go and lie down!

thanks for the post oldbuzzard - glad I'm not alone and sorry to hear you've had the symptoms for so long... I will have to go to the doctors I think if it continues month on month

Hi, I have the same problem. I have suffered from this for two years and have had tests for stomach ulcer, thyroid, pituitary gland and hormone levels and everything has come back clear. I feel like a hypochondriac. Im sure my GP thinks im at it. My GP gave me metochlopromide (anti-sickness tabs) and I use them when needed. They seem to alleviate the nausea.
