Today (esp this evening) Ive been feeling a bit strange and jittery. Also a bit like I might pass out but not dizzy (If that makes sense) and feel a little short of breath. I have a heart prob (mitral valve prolapse) but have no symptoms and I guess Im a little worried in case this is the start of things to come. I was discharged from my consultant 12 years ago just after dd was born so havent seen anyone since and have never been on drugs etc. Does anyone experience these things too? and if so, what is it?

i had my thyroid tested a couple of years ago and it was apparently ok. My gp is not very supportive when i visit about my weight in fact she insisted i had appetite suppressants last time i went even though I HAVE NO APPETITE!!!

I am making another appt though and plan to go with list of symptoms and possible diagnosis in hand

Hello jampots, sounds like you may have this sorted already but have you ever had your thyroid function tested? Palpitations, breathlessness, weight gain/loss, 'jitteriness', feeling too hot/cold are all classic symptoms. Might be worth asking your GP as it is only a simple blood test.

Your thyroid controls a lot of your brain chemistry so can make you fell and act very strange when it's not working properly - I was very jumpy and paranoid with my overactive gland!! It did make me very skinny though

hello mars and evesmama - i feel much better today. i think it could be a culmination of allergy and caffeine now especially as the lovely chocol8 also seems to know how im feeling and suffers from the same prob. I didnt take an anti-hist as i really hate taking tabs unless absolutely vital and ive been out gardening today so all points towards possible bunny/cola combo - but thanks for asking

thanks Chocol8. In fact I do tend to drink (when I drink it) decaf coffee but have been drinking green tea (not decaf) and in fact I also drank a couple of glasses of cola yesterday. Its strange how I didnt think of it then but its all so clear now! Thanks for putting my mind at rest and promtping me to think back

Hi Jampots - I have an irregular heart beat due to a floppy heart valve and am anaemic (veggie) and sometimes I experience the light headed, jittery feeling you describe. Sometimes, I know it's stress related and at other times, it is actually due to caffeine!

I've been on decaf for many years now as if I drink caff, it sends me all peculiar (even more peculiar than normal!).

It is a worry, and I would definitely go to the docs if this happens again. Hope you're feeling better soon. x

Sounds like there are a lot of things that could be contributing to how you are feeling atm. Maybe an idea to keep a note of what you are eating/avoiding/in contact with for a few days to see if there is a pattern - I'm sure that's what a doctor would need you to do before they could make any diagnosis.

Has the jittery feeling gone, or do you still feel a bit "other-worldly"? Incidentally, I feel like that if I eat too many sweet things in a day - I put it down to my blood sugar levels shooting up and down.

miaou - i had a good 8 hours sleep and am still yawning my head off. I think it maybe its a cycle of allergy-palpitations/breathless. Im going to take an anti-histamine this morning. Usually Im a serious hayfever sufferer but havent had to have more than 2 tabs this year so far (usually starts up in eary April). Also due to the fact that Im not eating red meat as such I wonder whether Im anaemic/heading that way.

Why not see how you are overnight, and if you are still concerned in the morning, then make an appointment. IKWYM about being a "pest", but you have a legitimate reason to be concerned.

If you feel fine in the morning and don't want to see the gp, stop the kids from bringing the rabbit in for a few days and monitor your symptoms - as you suggest, it could be a "build-up" of rabbit fur etc in the atmosphere!

Hope you feel better soon
