What makes your periods suddenly more frequent?

My cycle is usually 26/27 days, fairly consistently. I know that stress and illness can delay a period, but what can make it come early? I have that unmistakable feeling that I'm about to come on and that would be only a 21 day cycle. It's been a really stressful month, can stress make your period come early? Also, I'm breastfeeding, but not very much now, could the reduction in feeding make my periods more frequent? I don't fancy the thought of a period every 3 weeks so hopefully this is just a one of month.

I'm 31 so I wouldn't have thought so yet. But weirdly, my period hasn't arrived as I thought it would. Clearly that "unmistakable feeling" is mistakable.

My Dr says this is normal at my age - 39. All my friends who are the same age are saying they notice it too. Could it be perimenopause for you too?

How long are your cycles now compared with what they used to be? Did the GP think it had anything to do with stopping breastfeeding?

I have this too in the last few months and I have stopped breastfeeding about 15 months ago. It's driving me mad. The dr sent me for a ultrasound but it was clear so I'm thinking of hormonal tests is the next step. It's cramps and the feeling like gushing that my period has started
