So down and depressed - anal fissure

I had a thread about constipation recently and now I've developed a cut on my arse from it Sad

It's been like pooing glass. Dr gave me fybogel and hydrocortisone suppositories yesterday.
I've been applying coconut oil as I read that helps. I thought it was getting better but when I had a proper look for the first time yesterday I could see the cut and it really upset me. H had a look last night and said it didn't look that bad.
Maybe I should ask for it to be stitched up?
The thought of going toilet is dreading and I have a newborn and toddler who hardly let me do anything let alone relax on the toilet Sad I can only go after using a glycerin suppository now otherwise it's too painful.
Just when my vaginal stitches had healed this happened, it's really depressing me.

I agree with Rain, do try to go if there is even the slightest urge. But keep up with the movicol and water or the stool will get hard and tear you again

Keep in mind that it takes weeks and weeks to heal - when the Dr prescribed me the cream, she said that I should see a difference in a couple of weeks, but to go back in 8 weeks or so if the tear is still there

Oh bless you , you poor thing - just the thought of coping with a newborn and a toddler makes me feel postively weak . With bottom troubles as well Shock Shock

Is there anyway you could get some short term help - cleaner ? childminder for a few hours a day ? Ready meals ? Could your DP/DH take some time off work ? Any relatives who could help ? Cook evening meal for you ? Take toddler out ? Deliver /pick up toddler from nursery ?

I bet you're too exhausted to even think straight .

Flowers Flowers and Brew Brew for you .

( I've heard that Roibosh tea ,which I like as an alternative to tea ,is good to get the bowels moving )

Thank you, I am pretty tired. The Velcro baby is what makes it most difficult as she just screams when alone as most newborns do!
Toddler is ok, he's at nursery today so I'm going to just rest - booked a cleaner for tomorrow as a treat as I can't even think about cleaning right now. Need to sort some easy dinners this week too!
Going to use the loo now, feeling anxious

To heal the cut, am not sure that the hydrocortisone will help too much. Another one to try is your basic Anusol. It has a good healing element for the skin as well as the antisceptic which helps prevent infection. Easy to get hold of but should check if ok for breastfeeding. Just use it on the outside, on the actual cut. Should feel better within a day.

Thank you, will pick some up as I've been meaning to as it's numbs it a bit so might put some before going loo. What does the hydrocortisone actually do?

shite I've done that a couple of times and while breastfeeding once, horrible and can't be hygienic but she gets hysterical so I reckon it's better than that!

Basket have you had a fissure healed from just using anusol and movicol?

Not needed the movicol, but had what doc described as fissures and I would describe as v v v painful cuts. Investigated the ingreds for Anusol as was a bank holiday or something I think so couldn't get to GP for a few days and was horrid. The GP said it was fine and would help healing and to use if happened again. Worked a treat for me.

Hey, OP, I've been wondering how your bum is! Smile Hope you're feeling ok.

Thank you for checking up on me! Smile I didn't get a notification you posted but came to update.

It is SO much better! Only this last week mind you so has been a very stressful and anxious time.

Here's what helped for anyone who searches this in the future.

-I had to change my diet completely, I are only brown rice, veggies (mostly dark green like kale, broccoli) and chicken. Lots of soups - lentil, chicken broth. Lots of fruit.

-No white processed stuff.

-Took fybogel twice a day. And snacked on dried apricots

SUDOCREME! I was reading lots of forums and saw zinc oxide come up, which is sudocreme! I applied after every bm and before bed. I really think all these things have healed my cut as my stool was very soft and easy to pass.

-drinks lots of water

I've done two bm pain free without use of suppository and I feel like a new woman! I'm going to keep up the diet for longer although I don't want to lose any weight so it's been tough.

Oh and bath in hot water after ever bm too, to clean and promote healing.

Haven' read the full thread but I feel your pain.

Used to feel like someone was dragging a fishing hook out of my arse every time I went to poo.

I'm sorry I have no suggestions as it was so long ago that I've forgotten the short term relief. Just plenty of sympathy Thanks

I eventually had to have it surgically closed. Ouch.
