I get this regualry as my babes have grommetts.

I would go to the docs as the discharge may cause an outer infection which needs treating.

also if the ear drum is preforated, it would be good to know as you should take precautions with swimming and especially hair washing to make sure water stays out of the ears, or it could cause another infection.

i think they will say 'good' that it has popped - no need for ab's

i would leave her. she will only need doc if she gets earache hth

The pain is a lot better when it pops. I think they like to give you ABs when this happens though. My DS1 had a few lots of ABs for burst eardrums. You also need to keep an eye on their hearing afterwards, so to speak. It generally isn't a problem though.

It does look gross when the eardrum goes (but paradoxically they feel much better afterwards). Agree with others -- not something to fret about but should take her to the GP.

Take her to dr even if she seems fine. Greater risk of infection once the ear has popped. She'll need some abs.

Hi biglips

my ds has this 2 weeks ago, i knew he had an ear infection as was already on antibiotics, took him back to GP and they basically said his ear had popped. The pressure was so much it has to spill out somewhere (sorry of anyone eating!!).

As soon as it popped he was lots better. It just doesn't look very nice at all does it? My ds has re-current ear ifections and taking him to a cranial osteopath on Tuesday.

Sorry if this doesn't help

Has she had earache? How is she? She may have a perforated eardrum
