Second ultrasound on gallbladder?

Following an episode of biliary colic I had an ultrasound last month. The radiographer pointed out that I had gallstones (no surprise there...) and pointed them out to me.

I've been referred for another ultrasound so called to check there hadn't been a mistake. It's definitely not a mistake: they want me to have another scan of my gallbladder.

Has anyone else had this, or know why I might have to have this second scan?

I'm really, really anxious about these tests. I know that GB cancer is rare (c. 600 diagnosed each year in the UK) but I keep thinking about it and can't seem to shake the thoughts.

Balls: I've had to have a gallbladder ultrasound repeated, as 1st time the radiographer didn't follow the protocol, which was to measure the size of the gallstones & see if the bile duct was dilated, plus seeing if the gallbladder itself was inflamed.

I've also had an mrcp scan to see if there are stones in the bile duct.

Then the surgeon will review me with the results.

Good luck. It sounds like things are moving fast for you.

I had my ultrasound today, and have been told it shows that my gallbladder is calcified (not sure if fully or partially). Straight after the ultrasound I was taken for a CT scan which wasn't planned.

I'm slightly freaking out waiting for the results. I've never experienced such speedy testing - one month between today's ultrasound an the last compared to one hour between 2nd u/s and CT. My specialist said he'd call me today but hasn't.

I've been relatively symptom-free since August, but get vague discomfort in the area.

I have no idea when the follow up appointment would be. However my kind MIL has offered to pay for a private gallbladder removal and I'm due to see my NHS surgeon at a private clinic next week, before this scan.

Maybe to check the position of the gallstones to compare & make sure they're not causing any blockage?

Have you still got symptoms & when is your follow up appt?
