over the last couple of months I have had

bloating
diarrhea/mucusy poo
bad wind
extreme fatigue
pains in my joints/shooting pains down thighs
spots
eczema flare ups
weight gain
stomach cramps
fuzzy light headed feeling
headaches

do any of these things sound like an intolerance? My gp has done blood tests for iron and diabetes, both were normal. But dh wondered if it is a food thing, I have never had any issues with food. I feel like crap.

Thankyou

Have you considered IBS?

Have a google and also look at the info here about the FODMAP diet

Sorry mais, I don't mean to put a downer on your progress Sad, a two pronged attack could help though. Re my friend, I'm not sure, I haven't spoken to her about it since before the summer. I think she is still careful. Next time I see her I will find out and update here though. I can pm and let you know when in case it drops off your TIM list.

Hopefully it's just a food intolerance, candida diet is painful!

Sleepwhenidie-

I agree, candida will always try make a comeback when your immunity is down, and stress is a factor in that. Not what I want to hear right now when I'm trying to get rid of it though. Did she go back to eating 'normally'?

Thankyou everyone.

I will look into the candida thing.

Have just been to my gp, who has referred me for a colonoscopy and a pelvic ultrasound. Plus a blood test to see if i am menopausal.

maiscout - I do have a friend who has done it yes. It cleared up her symptoms, which included burning mouth syndrome - horrendous. I think her symptoms have flared up again a bit since...in her case I believe stress (a death in the family, marriage problems and other stuff) was and continues to be a big factor. I am a big believer in diet/food as medicine but also in the mind-body connection. So a diet can fix things like IBS/candida/leaky gut and many other things but if there is an underlying emotional problem that persists then symptoms will probably return. Not an issue for everyone of course, but worth thinking about.

Go onto BANTs website and put your area or postcode in and it will give you nutritionists and naturopaths in your area.

Sleepwhenidie:

I'm still doing the diet now (a month in). It is pretty hard and a very slow process but hopefully I will get the results everyone else seems to :)

Do you know other people who have done the diet successfully?

See my posting about my anti candida plan - I'm 10 weeks into it now and it's easing off and I'm 1 stone lighter.

Have you done the anti-candida diet with your naturopath maiscout? That is tough...seems to get results though.

It sounds like candida overgrowth to me. (Could just be food intolerance though)

If you can afford it I would see a naturopath and get some stool/blood tests.

I was going to the doctor for a year for many of the same symptoms and they told me it was just IBS, but after seeing a naturopath I've been diagnosed with a candida overgrowth in my gut.

Hope this helps!

Could be gluten, could also be dairy (these are most likely though it could of course be something else). Cut one (or both, if you want to get the pain of restriction over in one go) out for a couple of weeks. You need to be very strict. Once the two weeks is up, reintroduce (a few days apart if you've cut out more than one food). So after two weeks of no gluten, have some toast for breakfast, maybe a portion of pasta with lunch. See what reaction you have, if any. If the wheat or dairy is the problem then you will probably notice a difference (feel noticeably better) in the two week elimination, but the reaction of your body when you eat it again will give you a definitive answer.

Yes, sounds like like gluten to me too.
