IBS flare up... Any tips?

My IBS has flared up dreadfully tonight, awful cramps and having to go a lot (between the DC needing things and trying to cook dinner and put them to bed and everything else -argh!)

I haven't had a flare up for ages and am not sure why it's come on tonight. Nothing different in my diet!

Anyone got any tips on how to relieve symptoms? I would usually sit down and try and relax a bit but no chance of that tonight, loads to do but am finding it hard to get on with much as every 20/30mins or so I'm having to rush to the toilet and spend 10+mins with the cramps etc. I've wiped my ass so much it's painful

I was also going to say peppermint tea. Settles my stomach down really well. Have friends with ibs also who swear by aloe gel.

I only have a couple of boiled potatoes, no oil, butter or anything, water, mint, fennel or camomile tea for a day or two. It goes away.
Till the next time...

The only thing that has helped with my IBS is excluding gluten and dairy.

The only thing that helped my IBS was Aloe Vera juice from the health food shop. You take a small amount twice a day (about 20mls I think). It was the only thing that helped the pain and settled my gut.

No peppermint tea or germolene but I think Sudocrem will do the job once it's over. Had 3 additional attacks since I posted! Not eaten yet as not sure if it will make it better or worse! Confused.

Have you any peppermint tea? I would try that. Also a hot water bottle and some germolene! Hope things settle down soon for you, I struggle with ibs too.
