TMI? Menstrual blood from clitoris??

Hi all,

when I have my period, blood also flows from my clitoris - is this normal? It's been happening for years now, and I thought it was normal, but am realising that maybe it's not, and maybe my plumbing is out of whack... :-( Anybody else have the same, or am I the only one???

Hello.. so I know this post was forever ago. I was wondering, did you ever get it checked out? I always had the same thing but pushed it aside as me being wrong. But now I use a period cup and it just happened to me again. I felt the gush and it was on my leg and clitoris area so I don’t know how to explain this one away.

Do you still have a problem with clitoridal bleeding? What about your doctor´s opinion?

Report
Reppin · 28/10/2017 20:08

So what is the answer @Mrsmermaid13? What did the doctors say was causing you to bleed for your whole life through something with no hole?

Zombie thread , yes, but Giverofdreams has added to it because she’s convinced she has the same “problem”.
Giver, please read through the thread until you get to the bit where the OP realises her first post was based on a mistake.

So if you put in a tampon what happens?

As others have explained, the clitoris does not have an orifice for anything at all to flow out of. The urethra (which comes from your bladder and is where urine comes out) is very close by.

If you feel that blood is coming from there, and is particularly at the time of your period then you need to speak to your GP. They will not be embarrassed, but will be able to investigate and explain what might be happening.

there is no hole in the clitoris. Its probably blood travelling along your inner labia and then coming out a bit where the labia join

Yes, you are experiencing your period from your clitoris because I experience the same thing too. It's been going on for years, even right now I'm having my period and I just had a flow directly from my clitoris and the rest of the sanitary napkin is spotless. I thought it was normal that's why I never bothered to ask my Doctor about it.

I've experienced the same thing too. While I have my period normally, I also have my flow coming from my Clitoris as well. This has been going on for years, but I've paid no attention to it. I haven't even asked my Dr. about it.

Yes you can bleed from there. I know because I have suffered the same problem for most of my period life. I can feel the blood come out of there as well and when I wipe I will only get blood from that area. I've also had blood clots come from the same area. It is not blood that's come from another location or been pushed up I have seen it directly come from there and that's the only place the blood appears. So hopefully you found answers and didn't listen to people insisting you can't actually be going through this.

It sounds like a fistula - go back to your dr and ask for a referral to a gynae, for more expert opinion.

Yes! I have the same problem I thought I was the only one... since I've gave birth 2 years ago to 9 pounds baby boy, he also was stuck during delivery, it's been happening since then during my menstrual, I'll first see it a day or two before my period, mix in my urine and during my period, it's definitely coming from my clitoris, cause when I use a tampon I can see it, and sometimes it can be painful, I've been to the doctor and the seems clueless, I don't know what should I do

So what if you have a tampon and pad combo which I usually use on periods and there's blood at the top and a tiny bit at the bottom?? I'm not peeing blood. But it's not normal

Hi ladies,

just for an update, I tried your suggestions, and it's definitely NOT a problem. It must be just that labia get stuck together and blood moves up the channel, because when I put tampon in, there was no blood further up. Thanks for all your comments! Whew, what a relief! :-)

Thanks Rika, same as me, I get blood on pubic hair as well. Oh, am so relieved, that must be what it is.

Nocarsgo, am definitely going to try tampon AND pad next time, just to be sure...

Will get back to you... :-)

I get this all the time, it happens when the labia get stuck together and some of the blood moves up the channel that is formed and comes out more towards the front. When I have a sudden flood it feels like it's coming from the clitoral area, it just feels like that because the blood is flowing over a very sensitive area, it does feel like it's coming out of there like a wee, I've even had blood on my pubic hair from it when it's come out really fast. Honestly don't worry, it's coming from the normal place.
