Anyone suffer from (acne) Rosacea??

Just wondered if there was anyone else out there suffering from this persistent and embarrassing skin condition. i have had it on and off for about 6 years now and having a particularly bad flare up on one side of my face at the moment. I am tempted to phone the drs but i know they will only prescribe anti-biotics which i dont like taking as they are not very good for you and i'm not very good at taking them.

I have heard that a lot of skin problems are to do with not being able to absorb food properly through the gut so anti-biotics would not help that. I am trying to take some Enzyme Digest tablets but have to remember to take them with every meal. I definitely feel that the cause is something internal and i could cut lots of things out of my diet, stay out of the sun (i do try and cover up), stop drinking alcohol, caffeine etc but then i could also have a life!!

Anyway - the point of all this ranting is to see if anyone else out there is a sufferer and if you have tried anything that worked.

Thanks a lot

I have struggled with red skin for years. I have adult acne and as a result have many old scars and red skin. I struggle to leave the house without make up on as my skin looked so sore and inflamed.

I have tried many rosacea treatments and most have left me with very dry itchy skin as my acne sill pops out around my neck and jawline.

This however the Somaluxe Redness Repair has really helped. My red skin is starting to fade. It's also helping with current acne spots. There not dry and itchy anymore my breakouts seem less severe as the redness has reduced. I love the product.

Hi, I have a breakout of rosacea around every two to three months and have finally found a product that relieves the pain, redness, burning/stinging sensations and reduces redness as well as patchiness to near none existent, that product is sudocrem. Yes, i know it is a nappy rash cream however it is really effective on my roses and for me the only product that dosnt cause increased redness, lumps, spots, dry patches and pain. I also have eczema and oily skin so I have been using prescribe aveeno moisturising cream for many years every night before I go to bed ( I apply one layer) however despite the constant use of this cream I still get breakouts but cannot pinpoint any common cause to each occasion, and when I apply the cream during a breakout it only seems to make it a lot worse causing stinging, burning and more patches to flare up making it feel and look a lot worse. I know that many of you will think that the burning sensation of the absent cream is simply it working on my skin to heal it, however I assure you it is not, Inmy first episode of Rosacea I used my aveeno cream every single day and the process of my Rosacea doubled to three weeks until i stopped using my cream for two days and my skin finally started to calm down and allowed me to apply the cream pain free so for a few days I use nothing on my face whilst having a rosacea breakout which leads to very very very painful dry skin which tightens my face up a lot and makes me feel extremely insecure. But after three days my face seems to stop revelling against the cream and allows it to heal, I have no idea why this pattern occurs. After suffering with this regime for years I have recently discovered that sudocrem works really well and during a breakout it is not noticeable at all as long as I keep applying the sudocrem throughout the day, I have had a breakout for about two days and it hasn't bothered me once, although I can still feel slightly the dry patches it is not noticeable in any way which is wonderful considering I suffered with the dred and fear of having another episode of roscoes breakouts. Rosacea is not only painful (for myself anyway) it results in psychological abuse due to insecurity and anxiety no even slight depression or perhaps even extreme depression. It is something that I am glad I will not have to deal with again hopefully after finding sudocrem as a healing solution for my Rosacea. I know that many of you will read this and think that it will not help you as everyone has different skin but I advise you to at least try it, despite the risk of a major f,are up its better than not trying at all.

( I apologies for any spelling mistakes and grammatical errors as this was done with very fast typing)

i have had great improvement by supplementing with 1,000mg of EPA twice a day. it made it worse to begin with, then it got better. also using La Roche-P factor 50 fluid and avoiding alcohol. interesting programme on channel4 last night talking about food and skin conditions. the focused on psoriasis but i reckon a lot of the recommendations would help rosacea too.

I have tried Rosacea Relief and it has helped a lot for me. I get this from www.scrubsuk.com and there is some information on the site on the ingredients. I did however ask for some info from this company and they were very helpful in sending me additional info on the condition and their cream.

Hi, you first need to desensitise the skin. Use all anti-inflammatory products Avene cleanser available from Boots is a good place to start. There is a very good product called Sensicure from Skinmed apply twice daily follow in the evening with Organic Rosehip Oil and in the morning follow with anti-inflammatory UV protection again Avene pretty good or Sunwards also from Skinmed. Diet is a factor and there is lots of info available on the net. Supplement diet with Omega 3,6 and 9 and a pro-biotic I have also found helps. Be patient skin is an organ, first it needs to desensitise and then it will begin to repair. You may find the redness subsides but little whiteheads increase bear with it, all part of the healing process.

Mine is also aggravated by exercise, so depressing if you want to keep fit. Whenever I go on the running machines my face looks like a haemmorrhoid for ages after!!

Has anyone tried the Zenmed range? They seem to specialise in conditions like Rosacea and they also have supplements for it.

I have just been diagnosed with it, have had the problem for years. Seems to be mainly aggravated by stress and alcohol, hard to avoid both those things so making me very miserable. I am bookd in to Skin, a private clinic at Sutton hospital and they have Isolaz, a new laser therapy. Has anyone tried this for redness? I am worried that it will effectively reduce the blood supply to my skin, possibly causing longer term harm.

Any feedback greatly apreciated.

Thanks

There is a woman called Bharti Vyas who has had very good results treating this condition using a range of products she's designed herself. Don't have the number to hand but she is based in London.

Oh, yes, do let me know! BTW it can make your skin a bit dry at first, especially if you are as over-enthusiastic as me if so, cut down to one application a day and apply moisturiser. It does settle down again. Good luck!

Had my two minute telcon with the Dr and she is happy to give me some Zyneryt which she had heard of - she did suggest the Metrogel but i said i wanted to try something different. Think she just wanted to get me of the phone! May also go back and use the Stay Calm stuff from Virgin which i have used before as it is quite good - just feels like spending a lot of money when you buy it all in one go! Thanks Aloha i'll let you know how i get on!

Tee hee, oliveoil, yes, she does. Not much of a recommendation when you put it like that, is it? Mind you she is about 108.

I used to suffer quite badly with it when I was a teenager, but fortunately like Slinky says mine seemed to really improve after having children. I do still get occasional flare-ups and also use a bit of panstick every morning to cover up the redness, which I have found to be brilliant. I also use Vaseline Dermacare mosturiser which I find good.

I too was referred to a dermatologist. He did prescribe antibiotics which I did take for 6 months - but only a mild one. The rosacea cleared and has never returned.

Ages ago, I ordered some free samples of stuff but can't remember the name of the site. Sorry, not helpful in the slightest. I do remember you had to do lots of face rinsing in water, like 20 times or something, will have a look if I still have the info at home.

Since having the children, it has improved.

I currently use moisturiser with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E at night and during winter, but in summer I use No 7 Factor 15 face sunscreen.

I also take Vitamin supplements with Probiotics.

So what are you on now?? There are so many things i could buy - including Aloe Vera stuff, zinc tablets, vitamin C and grape seed extract and all sorts of stuff to do with repairing the stomach lining. Am trying to take some digestive enzymes as there does seem to be quite a lot about rosacea sufferers not being able to absorb various fats etc but even though i had the bottle on my desk while eating my lunch i still forgot to take it!

hopefully i will be able to get some Zyneryt from the Drs.

Thanks for all your help and advice - it is good to know there are others out there!

Manfwood

The reason I got referred was because according to my GP, I had quite a severe case.

I was sent to the hospital, saw a Consultant with various students present - he took a small biopsy and I had numerous photographs taken which were kept to be used for students.

BTW i've just phoned my Dr and hopefully she will be calling me back tomorrow before going on hols for 2 weeks (typical!). That website although it does sell stuff (not that expensive though) also offers some useful stuff and emails from other sufferers - it's not very professional though but is from someone who actually suffers. Will definitely mention the Zyneryt though and let you know what happens!

Thanks
