Cordless garden tools

We need a new lawn mower and I also want to buy a long reach hedge clipper. Rechargeable batteries seem to be the way to go for these items, I am thinking that I can then add other tools by the same manufacturer in the future, without buying more batteries.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Are Makita still a good make?

Thanks for the responses. In the end I went for Ryobi, I bought the pole hedge trimmer from Homebase as I can return it to them if necessary under the warranty and not have to pay to post it back to Amazon. I bought the battery and charger from Amazon, on the advice of the sales assistant in Homebase!, as they were cheaper online and Homebase have never had them returned with problems.

I spent today trimming the hedges and it worked brilliantly, a full charge takes under an hour and lasts for at least an hour and a half. I am very pleased and will be adding the lawnmower soon.

I’ve got a Bosch cordless mower - got it from Amazon about a year ago on a deal with money off plus it came with 2 batteries.

I’ve got quite large lawns front and back - probably uses about 1.5 batteries to do the lot. Have disciplined myself to recharge them as soon as lawns are done so that they’re ready next time they’re needed.

I love it!! First time I’ve ever had to mow lawns myself. It’s light and easy to handle, doesn’t seem ridiculously loud and seems to be holding up well. Really recommend it.

We have a (large cut size) GreenWorks electric cordless and 2 batteries. It’s great (can mulch or bag), works well for our half acre garden- take one and a half batteries to cut the lot. We won’t ever go back to petrol, cordless electric is so much easier and cleaner.

We are gradually changing all our garden tools to cordless electric- be aware that the batteries are often NOT included with the product unless you buy a special deal!

Makita products are usually very robust and efficient. From what I can gather, lithium ion batteries are the way to go.

I love my flymo Mighti mo. Battery powered. I've got 2 lawns. Front and back. Me and the teens have destroyed 2 corded mowers. This one is great and easy peasy to use.

Ryobi stuff is what I use. Try their One+ items and batteries.
