Ride on lawnmowers

We have half an acre of lawn/ field as a garden, so we're thinking of getting a ride on mower. But, is our garden actually big enough to warrant it (surrounded by farms so going to feel like a numpty on it!) and what would you recommend? Thanks,

I think they need it to be below a certain length to get going, just like any other mower. But then they keep it at the length they like because they run continuously (apart from when they take themselves home to charge)

Does the robot lawnmower need a near perfect lawn? Or can it cope witha weed invested field?

I wondered if the sir on lawnmowers were a bit boys toy!

We have an acre and to be honest, they're more trouble that they're worth! It's more of a boy's toy than anything - and dh has gone back to a normal mower, as the cost of getting it serviced every year (when inevitably something went wrong) was getting silly.

Countax is the make we have.

Our garden is massive but we're saving up to get a robot lawn mower instead. They're brilliant. Just set them free and off they go. You don't have to feed them or anything.
