GCSE results and A levels registration

As you know on Thursday the GCSE results will be given.
atm I am doing the registration forms for the 4 colleges we applied.
on results day it will be possible to register her own academy but we want another college.
-if dd doesn't get the grades needed shall we register to her own academy?
-wait to be accepted to the college she wants?
-also, there is another college she is willing to accept, shall we register that one which we have appointment with for next week?
-can we register to more than one college and than drop the ones that we don't want later? (I don't know exactly how the process works so this question of mine might sound a bit stupid)
really worried about this process so your advices will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you Flowers

thank you so much for your reply catslife. Flowers
we have an appointment on Friday for the college we want but you know it depends on her grades.
the other college she is willing to accept as second choice has given appointment for Tuesday next week.
so, atm it seems like;
we won't register to her own academy (its which we applied but as security).
on Friday we will see what our first choice college will say, maybe she wont be accepted directly. I don't know what to do at that point. this is the critical point for me and I may panic there.
next week Tuesday we have appointment with our second choice college.
there is another college which she doesn't want to go and they want the results to be emailed by Friday.

I think the process depends on the individual sixth forms or colleges but this is what we did last year (hope it helps).
The key subjects for A level registration are Maths and English and then the ones for the particular A levels she wanted to do.
Sixth form at dds school from Y7 to Y11 would not register them for sixth form without pass grades in both Maths and English. If these were obtained but they had missed entry grades for one their A level subjects they were allowed to swap if they wished to do so.
Sixth form college needed to pass English for A levels but would have been possible to retake Maths if needed.
FE college would have allowed a resit in either Maths or English for a level 3 course.
So for Q1 it depends on the academies entry criteria. You also need to check whether there would be a penalty (or not) if you register for a course and don't turn up. This does happen for some sixth forms in our area so check the small print.
Personally I would contact the college that she really wants on results day (or even beforehand) as the top priority to find out how to register.
For dd last year, the college she really wanted had given her a registration date after the ones that were a lower preference and we telephoned to have this date brought forward.
