Vegetarian Lasagne or chilli

Got a veggie coming to stay at the weekend - anyone got a recipe to make an interesting chilli or veggie Lasagne, seems boring I know but thought it would be easy (they do eat cheese etc)

I have never liked the way that they have put themselves over as the main vegetarian alternative to meat, when up until recently the Vegetarian Society has been unable to approve their products. I know that some people aren't concerned about these things, but some are, and may not have realised what they were eating.

At least they're doing something about it now - better late than never, I suppose.

That's interesting. My dh has been involved with Marlow Foods production over the last few years, and the last time he was there (a couple of months ago) they were definitely still using battery farmed eggs for some of their products.

It's nice to hear that they are finally in the process of changing to free-range for all of their range.

wwb - was a bit shocked about quorn using battery eggs so emailed them to find out more, thought id let you know their reply:

Dear Quorn Consumer,

Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding Quorn products.

Marlow Foods are delighted to tell you that all Quorn products on sale in the UK are now being made with free range eggs, and are approved by The Vegetarian Society.

Over the years we have worked closely with our egg suppliers, The Egg Association and the Vegetarian Society in order to achieve this goal. Due to stock holding policies however, it may take some time for some of these products to get into the shops, so please check individual packs for the Vegetarian Society seedling symbol to ensure that the product you have bought now contains free range eggs.

Assuring you of our best attention at all times.

Yours sincerely

i try not to cook 2 meals any more- but did when dd was littler.she is 10 now and has a huge appetite and will eat meat or veggie versions of most things. we all eat fish so that makes it easy. if i am doing chops or steaks or burgers, dh usually wil have a quorn grill or beanburger in place of that and then we will all eat spuds/pasta/ rice and vegetables.

Cod, are you having a Gordon Ramsey moment????

WigWamBam · 07/06/2005 12:08

Shudder at meat eaters, but still cook meat for dh, so as long as I don't impose my values on him, no-one suffers.

Sometimes we all eat veggie, sometimes I cook two meals, sometimes I do one meal and add the meaty bits to his half, and sometimes I can't be bothered and one of us gets the home-cooked stuff while the other has a ready-meal. It depends on the mood!

I do a lasagne with roast vegies, feta cheese, basil and creme fraiche. But my receipe is at home! It is yum yum and looks posh for a dinner party. And you can make it in advance to save stress and a furrowed brow on the day.

I will try and remember it from memory (eh?) and type it later when I have time.

I'll only cook two meals if there are common elements (eg sausages and mash - meat sausages for dp and non meat for me...) - have to say dp is fairly amenable - he eats what he's given

Blackduck, maybe I should start using that tactic too!

Likewise WWB - dp isn't, ds isn't, I am. Having siad that we eat an awful lot of veggie meals cos I do most of the cooking...

Do you tend to cook two meals though? That drives me mad. I do that sometimes if DH and I want a hot spicy meal, and DD fancies sausage broccoli and pasta (no sauce mummy, don't like it...)
