Hi guys,

I need some inspiration. If you could choose your favourite 3 things you like to see on a buffet what would it be ?

I'm planning my baby shower party for around 40 people. It's in the day time

Wanting some ideas!!! I've looked online but I'm curious what different individual people like to see at a buffet. Thanks guys xxx

Just to be different, having cleared up messy splattered everywhere pasta bolognese and drink spilt by dyspraxic DS earlier.... Plates that if paper are stiff enough to hold the food, cutlery located obviously for stuff that needs cutlery, if it's casual eat on laps somewhere to put a drink down by each seat or plate clips for glasses or sports type bottles - things less likely to spill.

cherrypavlova got there first. With a platter of salami and a salad of mozzarella pearls, cherry toms, black olives, basil leaves, a smidge of chilli flakes and garlic oil.

I agree that pasta should only ever be served hot, I can't bear pasta salad. Rice salad not much better. I love tabbouleh though.

Looking forward to reading this thread. I always make tabbouleh, honey mustard pasta & would do a lovely red cabbage, red onion, apple, carrot & pineapple salad that sil made recently

As per buckeejit I like a Greek Salad too and decent potato salad.

Along with those sides I like a piece of poached salmon, homemade quiche or marinated chicken strips.

Mini desserts always look good on a buffet table too. Baked cheesecake, chocolate eclairs, tiny lemon meringue pies and macarons. That kind of thing.

A side of salmon, a gammon and an onion tart. Then the usual salads, bread and buttered new potatoes.

Cheese and pineapple on sticks made into a hedgehog.
Cold mini pizzas
Potato salad.

There’s no compromise on the hedgehog by the way, if you’re gonna do it, do it properly.

Lots of sandwiches in really good bread.
Lots of tasty, fresh, colourful, herby, middle-eastern type salads.
Tasty lean protein options, eg spicy marinaded chicken skewers.
Cheeseboard
Freshly made, warm Spanish tortilla, still slightly soft in the middle.
Really good ice cream for pud.

No cold pastry.

It's terribly 70s but I love love love to see vol au vents - chicken, tuna and prawn.
And proper Scotch eggs, not those supermarket ones with hard as bullet eggs.
