Meals cooked and frozen

Hey girls,

I feel inspired to make healthy meal choices but dont have time! Im going to bulk cook meals and freeze them ready for the microwave. Im nervous about chicken and rice but after researching i can do it aslong as i heat it until it is steaming.

My main concern now is fish. Do you think i could buy cod, make fish fingers, freeze them and then defrost and microwave cook them? Would that work?!

Any recipes or websites you know of would be great! Xx

we always cook salmon in the microwave when its on it own.for 10 mins for about 4 fillets unsure from frozen.
things like tinned tuna or salmon could be put into rice or pasta though.
I admit to cooking fish fingers I nthe microwave for quick results but slow and little and often as they quickly go over.oh they will never be crispy this way.another way would be to toss things like smoked salmon through the meals once cooked them.it can be done raw but added to piping hot meal wil cook through instantly.
things like fish cakes weve done them half and half to then blast I nthe oven for crispier outers.
I cant think of anything you cant.just use common sense and make sure its hot.its also a tip to stir and give a little shimmy shake half way through to rejig the micro 'waves' and redistribute the heat.
fresh fish you can do really easy fish parcels in all sorts of varietys from noodles soy fish to garlic and lemon etc just by wrapping them all in on foil parcel.they cook super quick and steam together and are delicious.literally 10 mins in oven and potatos veggies and fish in one parcel.also works with chicken

It's just a case of experimenting - both with your microwave settings/power and seeing what things work well/less well

Seafood will get rubbery but still edible.

I can't think of anything. Just make sure it's well cooked when you freeze it and that's it's reheated thoroughly.

Whether you’ve made your own fish fingers from scratch, or bought a pack of frozen fish fingers, the answer is the same. You CAN microwave fish fingers, you just have to accept that the aesthetics aren’t as good as cooking them by other methods. In a standard microwave you will never get a crispy crumb coating. But, you can achieve a result where the fish is cooked and so safe and edible. You should be careful to cook them slowly/little and often and not simply put them in the microwave on a plate and turn the dial to 3 minutes on high power – they will cook, but they’ll also go mushy and fall apart. Microwave the fish fingers on medium/high power (800 watts/E) for 1 minute. Carefully turn them over and microwave for a further 1 minute. Turn them over again and microwave for a 3rd minute. The fish fingers should be fully cooked now.

Personally I wouldn't but that's because I really like it when the outside of my fish fingers are all crispy - the microwave makes them a bit soggy in my experience...
Things like prawn stir fry are really quick to cook ...and tinned fish (in water) is super healthy so you could stir that through some cooked rice or pasta
There's a whole section on the Good Food website with freezeable recipes ideas so maybe look there?
