Recipes from any books by these authors, there's a wealth of BC online but not so much of FR but I did find a few. Off to the library on Saturday to see what I can find. Any recommendations?

Oooh, can I join? I'm a HUGE Ina fan and have every one of her books (and have pre-ordered "Make it Ahead" from Amazon due out in October). Don't have any Fay Ripley books though.

BC favourites of mine include meatloaf (from "Foolproof"), Oven Fried Chicken and Summer Pudding with Rum Whipped Cream (from "Family Style"), French Apple Tart (from "Back to Basics"), Chicken with Forty Cloves of Garlic, Salmon with Lentils and Moroccan Couscous (all "Barefoot in Paris"). The only book that didn't really appeal was "At Home", for some reason.

I don't really bake with her recipes as she uses cup measures to bake and I don't think the recipes are as convertible over here as her "cooking" recipes are, which don't require such accuracy. I'm American myself and learned to bake with cup measures etc. but have completely switched over to the "UK/European" way of measuring baking ingredients by weight and not volume. I think I'm much better at it now and don't ever want to go back!

I have taken the liberty of starting the September GBBO thread here

Hope to see you all over there!

Finally, only a week or so late, I've made something from Fay Ripleys Family Food. The pork loin roast dinner, I only cooked the one loin but it was just enough for four with lots of veg. Very simple and tasty, I would make it again. I didn't have any apple juice but had some Santo left over from a JO Porchetta recipe a few months back and thought why not, with 100mls of this and 200ml of marigold veg stock it made a lovely sauce. The apples were a nice touch too. I did season both the meat and the onions though, no little ones here, which is where her recipes are aimed.
