Herbal tea

I've tried, I really have, but I really can't get on with herbal teas at all, is there some trick to it (like shut your eyes, down in one then have something nice to take the taste away)?!

Fruit teas are horrible. Like hot Ribena. Bleurgh!

Rooibos tea goes lovely with Gingernut biscuits

Roibos (however it is spelled) can be v nice.

I like a good hibiscus one.

But many of the fruity ones out there smell lovely and taste of nothing.

Another vote for Yogi. Brewhaha teas are good too.

'out', not 'ou'.

Pah, they always smell wonderful, and taste weedy - right up until the moment they're far too strong and have to be spat ou.

Fruit tea wine on the other hand, is all-round wonderful. And about 20p a bottle. Smile

It's just what you are used to. I love them and have a whole selection. My dd, 7, loves them too - she is a bit of a connoisseur and loves green tea too. Grin

Herbal tea is meant to be had with a bit of lemon, it makes a world of difference.

I am staunch believer in tea should taste like tea and a teabag should contain tea leaves grin]

The fruity ones promise so much with their smell then don't deliver on taste imo. I love real mint tea though and chamomile, although it tastes a bit like ditch. I had to have ginger for nausea but it really is quite disgusting. I'd much rather a nice milky cup of 'normal'.

puukka organic three mint is idyllic and my son loves the empty boxes for making into useless junk modelling stuff. so double thumbs up from me. i don't drink normal tea/coffee, yick.

I like the Yogi teas and the Pukka ones. I especially like Licorice Mint from Yogi.

Well, if you don't like your Pukka teas, you can send them to me!

I can tolerate lemon and ginger. Dd likes them and green teas.

They are bleurgh.

I love herbal teas.

Peppermint
Lemon and Ginger
Camomile
Fennel, nettle and peppermint by Pukka is nice too.

There's part of the problem ducky. I love some herbal teas, particularly mint, but the pukka ones tasted like someone spat out toothpaste into a mug. And I agree about the mint and liquorice - sitting in my cupboard right now; but I really, really like blood orange and cranberry.

There is no law you have to like them though!

The ones I've bought are Pukka ones, I don't have sugar in tea or coffee so its not that, its just the whole taste thing! I'll persevere and they might grow on me...

buy decent ones from the health food shop,

It's the sugar you are missing, once you get over that, you find them refreshing,

I drink a lot of fennel, nettle, mint,

use an infuser or plunge tea pot for dried camomile and fresh Egyptian mint, some people add sugar to mint tea, but it's like normal tea if you get use to it without it doesn't feel refreshing with it.

My children love the fruit teas, but I usually buy the decent ones, they tend not to like the cheaper ones, go for a brand that specialises in herb teas, Twinings and others are band wagon jumpers, and have yet to make a decent one, they have never quite got the bit about quality of ingredients or the drying process, and their stuff tastes totally wrong.

Always when you open them transfer to a glass jar rip label off shove in jar, or they lose flavour and get tainted by other things around them.

The best brands I have tried at Pukka and Teapigs. Teapigs are insanely expensive - like £5 for a box of 20 bags Shock They do taste amazing though, the peppermint one is heaven

As a non-ordinary-tea drinker, the only herbal teas I like are the minty ones. Twinings do a 'selection box' of (5 bags per selection) :

Peppermint & Eucalyptus
Pure Peppermint
Nettle & Peppermint
Camomile & Spearmint

The trick is not to be seduced by the description on the pack or the aroma of the bag. Tell yourself you're going to have a lovely mug of hot water and then the hint of flavour is a nice suprise.

Never expect them to taste like squash.

When I had Raspberry Leaf Tea in pregnancy, I had to give DS1 some fake stuff made with Vimto as he wanted to share. I wasn't sure about the health effects on 2yr old boys!

I love peppermint tea and camomile tea. I have however tried a lemon and ginger tea and that was so disgusting I couldn't even finish it.
