I've seen a recipe for frozen Apricot & Almond Cake and have talked myself into needing an ice cream maker now. Any recommendations? Grin

I have the Andrew James ice cream maker, can't link on my phone but you can get it on amazon. It's expensive (£150!) but brilliant as you don't need to pre-freeze the bowl, it's all integrated and freezes instantly. I use it loads and never buy ice cream now as it's so quick and easy to blend ingredients, put them in, turn on and 40 minutes later - ice cream! Honestly the biggest faff is getting the ice cream out of the bowl and washing it up! But depends on your budget, mine was a present from DH, I would never have spent that much (glad he did though! Magimix with the built-in compressor (John Lewis) -you switch it on 20 mins before pouring the mixture in (could be simply a tub of fruit yogurt) and 40 minutes later you have lovely ice cream and you can make another batch and another one etc. straight away because of the built-in compressor.

I would like an ice cream makers - but looking at the cheaper end of the market so am lurking in case someone recommends a less expensive model - under £60

I have a Philips freeze the bowl thing, it's fine - currently making some chocolate ganache ice cream - struggle to think one at £200 would be worth the investment for me, as the one I have works just fine...as long as the ice cream mix

I meant as long as the ice cream mixture is cold before you start, which means custard ice creams can require a bit of forward planning.

I just bought the £20 Andrew James one and the engine shorted out twice on the second use. I wouldn't recommend it despite the good review in Which.
