I need a recipe for flapjack that is just that - a recipe for flapjack not crumbs.

Today I followed Nigella's recipe and now I have a box of crumbs in the freezer I'll use to make a crumble sometime.

What do I do wrong ?

Ah, that error with the syrup will be why my Nigella flapjack turned to crumbs too! Off to correct it now, thanks for the tip.

I tend to make double and so as I don't have half a tin of condensed milk tempting me.

But then you have two trays of flapjack tempting you Confused

SoupDragon's recipe, all day long Grin

(Thanks, Soupy - total game changer!)

Choc flapjacks. First lot (per Saint Delia) in bin, doubled the amount of butter and half went in bin. Burnt the chocolate and set fire to a tray.
Adding condensed milk, if herself ever lets me try again, seems a good idea. Thankyou.

Quick question: unsweetened condensed milk on SoupDragon's recipe, or sweetened? TIA!

I use the caramel condensed milk and its the first time i have been able to bake flapjacks with consistent texture.
half pack of butter (about 130gm)
melt with condensed milk, add about 2 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey, add 300gm oats, mix well.
bake for 25 mins - am doing them twice/week at moment, favourite elevenses for son and husband.

Does anyone have a recipe for a flapjack that uses crisp rice cereal and is a bit like Blush Quaker Porridge to Go bars? I've had a look at the Oaty Bar recipe from Eat Well for Less and it looks good if not a bit sweet with both agave syrup and honey. Thanks!
