Freeziing uncooked mince pies

blowninonabreeze · 07/12/2010 15:42

I'm making 100 or so mince pies tonight to freeze uncooked and use over the next few weeks.

If anyone's done ths before, can I egg glaze before I freeze, or does it have tobe prior to cooking?

Thanks

I never egg wash them, just make and freeze and then when I go to cook them I egg wash or brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar

Thank you.
I'm sure my grandma used to freeze them cooked, but I love them freshly cooked.

i might do this
how do you do it eactly - sorry to be thick
i roll out pastry and fill in the little cupcake type tins.
do you just take them out raw pastry and all and freeze - wont they collapse??

I'm planning to assemble them in the tins, freeze them in the tin ( I have 3 silicon ones) and once frozen pop them out and into freezer bags.

When it comes to using them, defrost them in the tins and cook.

Fingers crossed
