dh wanted to watch this so we did last night. Gladiator it wasn't as far as I was concerned. Brad Pitt doing an impersonation of Russell Crowe's accent in Glad. (but not as well) Stern, almost English accent but with turbo pompousness. What a dreadful pile of poo this was. Helen of Troy? Who is that actress? The Face that launched a 1000 ships I don't think so. Just rubbish. Nice wideshots for the battles etc, but all the script and acting was just bobbins. It was the guy who directed Perfect Storm which was great - can't understand it.

I liked it - but Brad minus clothes is bound to grab my attention!

I think it stuck fairly well to the original story albeit having had the 'Hollywood Treatment'. Saw it with my friend and we were in hysterics in the cinema when Sean Bean started talking - his broad Yorkshire accent in ancient Greece was a bit out of place, more so than the American ones which you come to expect in most film I guess.

most of the script was true to the myth apart form the helen thing, aparently in the storys she was kidnapped and her husband survived.

I was looking forward to seeing this for ages, rented it out and laughed my head off all the way through at the ridiculous script! It was just daft, I must admitt I cried though, all the goodies die and all the baddies live, suppose that's more down to Homer than Brad and the rest of the pretty folk though!

vict17, I'm sure it's better on a big screen!
I saw it at home on the sofa when I'd really rather have seen something else and was falling asleep....

ooh, I have to confess I really liked it. But it was my first trip out last May after having my baby so I think I would have loved any film

It was indeed a bag of sh*te, the divine mr pitt in his skirt notwithstanding. Dialogue terrible, modernising language to the extreme of 21st Century colloqulisams negates the efforts made to be historically accurate with costume etc.

Eric banner did a good job but the whole think stank
