Hi all. Unhappy that's cold be the side effects they should ease after a week or two. Sertraline has worked wonders for me currently on 100mg. Nice to have a thread like this to see how others are doing. I've been on it since mid October. Massive difference in my confidence and enjoying activys with dd. still have irrational thoughts from time to time but haven't had a full blown panic attack for a long time x

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say hi. i am not sure if anyone has a similar experience to me? I started taking sertraline last year after a very sudden onset of severe anxiety which had me waking up very early physically shaking and nauseous, vomiting, no appetite unable to keep any food down, difficulty getting to sleep etc. constant worrying. I gradually began to feel better and felt back to normal after several months. I continued with the sertraline 100mg until October and then on advise from doctor weaned off them over about 6 weeks. Last week I had another very similar situation, woke up shaky, nauseous, no appetite, so I have gone back on the tablets. I am very worried if I have done the right thing? Was this just withdrawal or the problem recurring? Did I come off too quickly? Now I am scared I will never be able to come off them.

Hi
I also take 50mg around 6.30 pm. I have had no side effects and this ad has saved my life.
I struggled without meds for 3 years. Tried citalopram for 11 months which didn't work for me. Switched to sertraline in September 2013 and the change was instant.
Still have the occasional wobbles but I can deal with them.

Good luck

Hello

Cherry- I've been taking the sertraline for 2 wks now so no expert but I've found that I intially felt better (but this coincided with a change of routine, no work and both me and DH dealing with kids together over xmas). Back now I am back at work I feel like I might need a higher dose. Could this be the same for you? I am on 50mg- what are you on?

AGnu- I found the side effects to be weird but it wasnt worse that how weirded out I was feeling with the depression (pretty suicidal but not wiht a plan to do anything if that makes sense). I found they were gone more or less within a week and now at 2wks totally. Worth hanging in there I think

No idea about paroxitine Im afraid.

I've got depression. GP prescribed Sertraline in mid December but I had a cold at the time & couldn't deal with the side effects after just 2 days on top of the cold-symptoms. I stopped taking them with the intention of starting again once the cold was better. I haven't. Blush

Today is the first day without DH around for the best part of 2 weeks. Not going entirely well, if I'm honest! We're coping though. I'd love it if we could do more than just survive but I guess I'm just going to have to bite the bullet & start taking the meds again!

When do other people take theirs? I had been taking them in the morning which was fine with the fluoxetine I was on many moons ago but I'm wondering if I might have fewer side effects if I took it before going to bed & therefore could sleep through the worst of it... maybe! Hmm

I've been on sertraline for four weeks now. Should they have an effect by now? I feel a bit more numb but not myself. Really worried about returning to work next week.

There are a number of ADs that may or may not work for you Bones. It's simply a matter of trial and error before finding one that's right for you, so don't give up. It can also take weeks for the effects to kick in before you to know whether the ad's are right or not.

DeadMansBones · 24/12/2013 05:11

I'm really struggling to stick with the ad's,

I tried sertraline a couple of weeks ago and lasted 4 days, it made me feel so sick and extremely agitated and shaky. Anxiety was much much worse.

Now trying fluoxetine, 3 days in and the nausea is kicking in, I'm waking at stupid times panicking.

I don't think I can do it, I need to be able to function and I cant, I know the side effects might ease off if I stick with it but I cant cope with feeling like this.

Maybe ad's just aren't for me.

Hi
I don't think that anyone can understand anxiety unless they have dealt with it themselves. My h just got fed up of me not being well. It was as if I was spoiling his life.
I tried citalopram for a year 10 mg. and I didn't find that helped at all. As soon as I switched to sertraline the benefit was instant. The Only drawback is weight gain. I put on 7 pounds with citalopram and another 4 pounds with sertraline. I am eating more biscuits and crave sugary snacks. I will need to address this in the new year.
However I would rather have the extra weight and be back enjoying life.
This time last year I was dreading Xmas and struggled to leave the house.

Hello.

Please can I join you.

Just started on Sertraline 50mg. I'm on day 4 today. Taking for PND (though baby is 1) though think I've never been particularly happy.

Lots of side effects but manageable mostly.

I don't really have anyone to talk to a about this as my h doesn't really get depression / anxiety. He's avoiding it I think because he's barely engaged with me since I told him about the meds. Seems afraid of asking how I am Blush

I can't wait to start feeling the effects Smile

Anyway. Would be great to chat to some like minded people.

Funny, do you find that getting started is the worst part of your day? Just wondering because I tend to find that about all jobs I have to do, from hovering and dusting to walking the dogs and doing the dishes.

I'm having a Brew, if anyone wants one, and loads of Biscuit, so please help me eat them, otherwise I'll just eat them and feel terribly gready afterward Grin

Hi tea - yes I have been a little wobbly this week. Totm. I have had a very stressful time with my 18 year old son. Which would normally send me to bed and into panic mode but I have dealt with it. I get more anxious first thing in the morning. I try to get up quickly and get the day started. Once I am at work and busy I am better.
I have now been on sertraline 50 mg since September 20 so just over 3 months. I am doing so much better.

Hi can u join? I know it's been a while since anyone posted and not sure if this is still going or not.

Anyway I take 50 mg sertraline for the last 6 weeks was wondering if it can make pmt worse or if it's normal in general to have more anxiety/panicky feeling around 'that time of the month' x

Morning good ladies, File, Blue........ how are you both doing? Apologies for not being on here lately, I've had loads to do with college, my 2 staffies (mad things they are :D), looking after my parents, the list is nigh on endless LOL.

Anyway, how have you both been lately? I'm sticking the kettle on, do either of you want a Brew? If you have anything to rant about, feel free to vent if it makes you feel better afterwards :) as I'm all ears.

Believe it or not, I'm hoping to go to uni and qualify as a psychologist. If I can help people by just listening to them, then that's what I'm here for.

Do it, you obviously did the hard part by going in the first place, keep in contact they are there to help you get better :)

I had to wait 3 months for my referral, I wasn't even planning to go on medication at all, no choice in the end.

Go back to the GP and explain how you're feeling, they probably will increase the dose if you feel you need it

For about 4 weeks.

I had my first session (after waiting six weeks) for a psychology assessment on Monday and the receptionist wrote the time down wrong.
