It was ok. Smear test territory. Cramps after like a bad period. Nothing that some neurofen before and tea and a hot water bottle after didn't sort out.

daisiesinherfootsteps · 25/10/2016 09:33

It's really not that bad. Uncomfortable with a bit of a twinge or two. Be aware they have to measure your womb first and then insert the coil so takes a bit longer than a smear. Take ibuprofen AND paracetamol or cododamol 30min before the appointment and it should barely hurt at all. Probably some cramping and spotting for the rest of the day.

Oh thanks guys! I was thinking nurofen plus before? That seems to knock most things on the head. Worried as I've had a LLETZ and prob have scarring Blush

Still, can't be worse than the "where are my pills" dance every morning!!

Agreed with the painkillers. They can also numb your cervix if it becomes too painful, but to be honest it's more the cramping while they're doing it that's uncomfortable

lalaland1985 · 25/10/2016 10:11

As long as you don't have a tilted womb you'll be fine!

daisiesinherfootsteps · 25/10/2016 10:18

Yes Nurofen plus would be ideal, that's what I was getting at, ibuprofen for the cramping/aches and codeine is the best OTC for blocking out any fitting pain I think.

lemonzest123 · 25/10/2016 11:46

Tilted?! How do I know if its tilted?!

Oh god, I'm in the waiting room getting in a right flap.

Couldn't find nurofen plus so just took the ordinary one....

Hope it's gone ok!

BoinkAlongQuietly · 25/10/2016 11:48

Oh, I'm abroad on holiday - got the time mixed up. Are you ok, OP?

No need to flap about in the waiting room, deep breaths, it will be over quickly.

BoinkAlongQuietly · 25/10/2016 11:49

(Although I always flap about in the waiting room so I'm not one to talk really.)

BoinkAlongQuietly · 25/10/2016 14:00

Oh no! That's the worst!

It took them 3 tries to get mine in. It was awful. So sorry. Will you go to hospital to have it put in?

lemonzest123 · 25/10/2016 14:07

They've given me a gynaecologist appointment to "have another go" Blush

Its the scar tissue from the LLETZ Haloween Sad
