Where to go after Shred?

RiojaHaze · 12/01/2014 11:54

Much as the title says!

Hadn't done the 30 day shred DVD for a while just been running and gymming. Sweated during level 3 but would like a bit more of a challenge so am looking for advice on which DVD to go for next!

Paha!! Love how it comes with a "workout in progress" warning card for the other side of the door!

If you find it notyummy, let me know! Meant to google it today at work but forgot.

Ha yeah the ab 'help'! I remember once DS2 bit the roll that occurred on my belly while crunching. That was nice....

Maybe some kind of anti-gravity chamber gymnastics? Sounds fun!

Yes, ds1 had given up naps by this age! I do often do my exercises with DS watching the iPad, but he likes to come and sit on my stomach during the ab sections Smile.

Not sure our doors would be sturdy enough for any equipment. But I will get back to the gym one day! I wonder what the exercise of the day will be then?!

Ooh- I might have a look at that home TRX thing!

Report
RiojaHaze · 14/01/2014 11:29

Ah I have a 19 month old who has decided naps are soooo last year Confused

I recommend holding them while you lunge though, really ached yesterday!! Wink

I had a go on a TRX type thing last night at the gym which was brilliant and the trainer reckons you can get them for your home. The straps go over a door which you shut then has a weighted bag on to stop them running through and you falling!
Using own body weight to squat and stuff was a nice change from weights.

Except that I have a Sony BluRay player and Sonys are hard to hack. I'd need to buy a one for all remote to do it.

Region based DVD players can be unlocked so they can play any region just by inputting a code using your dvd remote control. You just google the make and model of your dvd player and get the code to unlock it.

That is dedication buttons! One of the posters on the JM thread was thinking of doing the same thing as you so she could get a bigger variety of JM and Bob Harper DVDs. I do actually have an old multi Region DVD player in the garage, I wonder if it still works?!

Rioja- I normally do the DVDs during nap time or after the boys are in bed. Sometimes I just pop something to watch on the iPad for them. It's easier now my 4yo is back at school as my 19mo does nap most days.

EarSlaps, no I'm in the uk Smile. I have a cheap dvd player from asda which plays all zones. So I just get the dvds fro the states. Having said that my hard body one seems to have 'disappeared', hence me doing extreme shed and shred. I did really try and push the boat out yesterday and boy am i sore today. That hasn't happened for ages!

I'm not a naturally fit person (used to skive and smoke in PE lessons!) but now I love it.

I have a very helpful DM and run in my lunch breaks. Don't you find doing the DVDs hard with DC though? I was doing flying lunges earlier with a heavy toddler in my arms who wouldn't be put down!

Wow, sounds like you're pretty fit then! NMTZ should be pretty good for you then to add a bit of strength in there. I need to get back into it and try and up my weights.

I'd love to try and get to some classes one day, but for now it's all JM DVDs at home. Two young children and a DH working long hours makes the gym unrealistic at the moment.

I've been doing a tabata class once a week which is amazing and an absolute killer too, the DVD a couple of times a week and I try to run at least 10 miles.

Next on my list is a TRX class! Have you tried those?

You won't regret getting NMTZ (well, you probably will at points, but not when you've finished the DVD Grin). I bet you end up with a few more of her DVDs too now. I have seven of them. bigbuttons, are you in the US? Hard body doesn't seem to be out in the UK yet, but the reviews are good.

Rioja, I'd recommend some sort of interval training for cardio fitness too. Research is showing that is the best way to improve fitness. You can just add some sprints into your runs and follow up with a slow recovery jog, or do a nice hilly route.

No, my body fat percentage isn't really low enough for a visible six pack. I think for a woman to have a visible six pack they need to be somewhere under 20% body fat, and I don't really have the motivation for that.

I do have some pretty good definition now though, you can see the lines along the sides of my abs and I have a flat stomach. I wasn't expecting to really get a six pack so that is more than I was hoping for.

Argh too much choice!!

I've chosen on price as they all seem to be good so the cheapest on Amazon was No More Trouble Zones.

Thanks for all of the advice!
