Brexit

Petition to rescind Article 50

Just got an email from Avaaz with a link to a petition:

secure.avaaz.org/campaign/en/no_deal_no_brexit_loc/?cNWBamb

"The government called an election to get a massive mandate for hard Brexit, but instead, it lost its majority. Now, as the French and German governments have confirmed that the UK can reverse Article 50, and it becomes clear that a ‘no deal’ Brexit would have devastating consequences for Britain, we call on you to commit to rescinding Article 50 if we fail to reach a deal with Europe."

I know a lot of people, including DF, who voted for Brexit but now regret that decision. Even the most positive amongst them say that they wish we could just stop the madness now.

Brexit will cost him billions

I'd remind people here that Soros famously made a fortune out of an earlier version of brexit (the UK's exit from the exchange rate mechanism). Brexit may have few economic benefits for ordinary people, but there is no reason why an American investor should fear it; after all, Britain's loss will to a large extent be someone else's gain, and if Soros backs the right horse there is no reason why he should not personally benefit from it.

Carolines, what's the problem with it being George Soros? Genuine question.

He's Jewish. Same dog whistle anti-semitism that got chucked at Macron, by both left and right.

Please....Breitbart Tanith? If youre also refering to his wikipedia entry re 'apologies', its clearly not been updated since wikileaks last year!

Rewind a little and Soros was totally open regards his involvement in political interference through his foundations.

In 2003 he said,
"It is necessary to mobilize civil society in order to assure free and fair elections because there are many forces that are determined to falsify or to prevent the elections being free and fair," Mr. Soros said. "This is what we did in Slovakia at the time of [Vladimir]Meciar, in Croatia at the time of [Franjo]Tudjman and in Yugoslavia at the time of Milosevic."

Hes become a little more careful though in recent years, especially since he obtained 40% of Goldman Sachs (he did very well out of Slovakia, Croatia, and Yugoslavia).

If you can justify any reason whatsoever why a magnate, whose personal wealth is now greater than Hungarys, advises Merkel and the EU on policy, and why he now believes the UK needs his 'guidance' on free and fair elections ( the despot dictatorship that we live in) Id love to hear it, as clearly the UK and its "corrupt" system is now in his sights.

Quite simply, Brexit will cost him billions, as did the success of Trump. He makes a fortune out of migrant misery and the EU, and will continue with his 'humanitarian advice' to continue the mass movement of needy people as long as it lines his pocket.

Lets also see how he gets on in the BSG trial shall we........

Do you have a source, Caroline? Apart from Breitbart, I mean?

Soros is not a founder member so not sure how you can claim he is Avaaz.
A couple of right wingers have tried to prove a link and been forced to retract and apologise.

Bolshy

I'm not sure you should be allowed to stay with that admission!

If you have cash you can buy citizenship. The rich have more than one passport. Helps the tax fiddles Hmm You can guarantee they won't be sticking around. Boris still has his USA one

I only have one passport, my family are stultifyingly English as far back as the 18th century*. I would LOVE a second passport right now, I'm not sure why I should be expected to stick around and prop up the mess of a country the leavers have created. Used to love my country but now I'm embarrassed by it tbh.

I have one non-English ancestor back in the early 1900s, I guess this makes me unfit to comment in carolines* eyes.

You don't care what Brexit has done do you? The more of us leave the better?

No there is no irony that descendents if immigrants feel a need to leave is there? You really really don't get what Brexit has done do you?

Sigh. Look up the SWP. Start to talk from a position of knowledge rather than rhetoric. How on earth will I topple the government? Laughable

"Us immigrant types ironically are the ones that can leave England to the Englanders "

Theres no irony there Evers, enjoy your SWP march in July. It accounts for your personal lack of investment in the UKs future.
Your dedication to the government toppling cause, is Im sure admirable in various camps. Good luck.

Mango, Soros is many things to many people, which has been his recipe for success. He plays both sides. A convicted insider trader, his close involvement in regime change, the domestic politics of nations, and the migrant crisis, has made him one of the richest men in the world. George Soros sniffs round anywhere he can support civil unrest and division, as you can bet hes hedged his bets by quite a few billion. Hes on a scale thats quite simply hard to understand.

About to apply for my third passport Beanies as am from immigrant stock. Us immigrant types ironically are the ones that can leave England to the Englanders if it all gets too rocky.

You can never have too many when the lunatics have taken over the asylum trashed it and tell everyone they now live a palace.

If the ex UK ambassador to Ireland is applying for an Irish passport you can bet that all the rich who can get one through family or buy one (there are a number of countries where you can do this) are.

But I'm sure the land of blighty milk and honey isn't just a LCD induced pipe dream Hmm

"Well if the Brexit arms is anything to go by Brexit is merely symbolic. That is it. Whatever happens next is somebody elses problem."

LOL. Its someone elses problem as long as its only the pro-eu narrative and remainer shrills that are listened to. Which is clearly the current case.
But crack on, youre clearly being heard and its all going swimmingly well. Hmm
I for one, am simply having a quiet beer in the sunny beer garden at the moment whilst the political establishment implodes, entirely of its own making. The clock keeps on ticking.

Why aren't the Brexiteers displaying their anger against BoJo, Gove, Leasdom? All still in Government and all so far noticeably failing to list tangible benefits, either silent or mouthing platitudes about how wonderful it will be. Or Gisela Stuart who cleared off promptly and Farage who has been pretty quiet since an initial flirtation with Trump came to nothing much, but threatening violence if he doesn't get his way.

With all due respect I don't think you'd require a PHD in economics to understand leaving the biggest trading in the world with only some vague notion of what would replace it is a tad naieve.

I've burnt my lovely house down but don't worry i can live anywhere now. Hmm

Also, brexiters need to bloody well move on and look at the damage that has already been done to our country. Burying your heads in the sand and shouting "WILL OF THE PEOPLE, ITS ALL GOING TO BE AMAZING" is not going to help us when the economy goes tits up and the jobs leave.
