I've just had a message to say that ds's school will be inspected tomorrow and Friday- don't they usually get a couple of day's notice? Pleased that they don't- but have the rules changed recently?

Is the notice the same for the interim inspections where they check the data only or do you not get advised of that?

Our whole county really was put on notice, not just those who thought they were probably due sometime soon. I suppose the pressure is really on Satisfactory schools, the others might get a bye.

I work in a school, see the internal memos to staff which sometimes includes school gossip; we were Ofsted'd back in March along with many primaries thru April, rumour is it's now the turn of High Schools'; so far I've only heard of schools improving, btw.

Lijkk,

I think that the point is that every school knows pretty much when they are 'due' (my DD's school has been 'due' since Easter 2012, so over a year now of expecting the call any day), but the actual date of the inspection is not known until after lunchtime on the day before.

Some schools are done before they are 'due', for others there is a delay, but the fact is that it is now much more difficult to turn in a 'planned show performance' than it used to be, when the dates were known ages in advance.

We had a 'next day' Ofsted last year, but the call was in the morning - it's even later now.

Our whole county was put on notice about 2 months ago :). So some schools will have had up to 4 months notice.

Just discovered that if you do the online questionnaire you can watch as other people comment and the %ages change. Fascinating!

Our last inspection was with one days notice. I much prefer not having time to worry about it. Good luck to them xx.

DCs school was inspected in November - got the call Monday lunchtime and were inspected Tuesday and Wednesday. Think its been like that since some point in 2012. Made a lovely start back after half term for the teachers....but at least they didn't have to worry over half term I suppose.
