Divorce/separation

Married or maiden name?

My husband moved out in September, and I will be filing for divorce once we have the consent agreement from mediation.
I am applying for uni in September, and it has got me thinking about my name.
I changed my name on Fb the day I found out he was cheating on me, and had hoped we would complete therapy together and stay together, when I would then change my name back.
We have two children together, and I think on a practical level it is best for children to have the same name as both parents, but I don't know if I see myself as MrsY anymore - must name change here!
My degree and new career are part of me creating a new identity, but I don't know if I should be Mrs or Miss ...

What have you done? What are your thoughts about mothers having the same name as their children?

I've always used the title Ms but I kept my married name for the following reasons

  1. I don't want to have a different name to my kids
  2. Don't want to fill in any forms.
  3. No-one on this earth cares whether my name is XXX or YYY. I'm still the same person.

I’m planning on going back to my maiden name as soon as my divorce is completed. I’m taking the title ‘Ms’ also. I might change my mind but my plan is when I’m officially single again

I've decided to go back to Miss. Spoke to my 8 yr old and she wasn't fussed either way. New photos taken today for DL and passport, and a new signature!!

Reverted to my maiden name within weeks of separation. I wanted to lose all association with my ex husband and didn’t want a constant reminder of him in my future. Everyone’s circumstances are different though.

After my ex cheated on me I couldn't bear to have his name any more. I went straight back to my maiden name. It's been a pain but only because I've needed a gazillion different documents with my name on to apply for DBS checks due to getting a new job.

Iv been wondering this but iv defo decided to go back to my maiden name. Iv got 2 young children and tbh i dont think it makes much difference now a days!
Hes turned out to be a guy i don't know or like and tbh changing my name will be liberating.
