I am so sorry this has happened to you. Have the police referred you to victim support? They are very good and will come to your house so you can talk through how it has left you feeling. My next door neighbour was burgled years ago and like you they took her Mum's jewellery. They did catch them though and she got it all back. Don't lose hope. Horrible to think a stranger has been in your home though. Look in to victim support if police not already referred you. x

I’m so sorry- heartbreaking for you. It’s not just the items of sentimental value but the feeling of violation 💐

I remember this happening to me as a child when my mum came to pick us up from school. My mum's engagement ring was taken along with loads of stuff - they even stole our pillowcases to pack the stuff into. The people that do this are utter scum. I don't know if they realise the impact of doing this.

It still affects me now - I don't have anything outside at the front of my house that isn't attached to the house, apart from a cheap doormat. My car is nondescript.

I hope that you feel better soon, it is an absolutely terrible experience.

This happened to me about 6 months ago. Just keep telling yourself it's not personal. They needed in and out quick and waited small high cost items.
Hopefully you can claim replacements on your insurance and you'll honestly not think about it much in a few months time.

Oh I’m sorry @candlelighter as my gran used to say ‘I hope their fingers fall off'

doesnt help but when you think of the , usual scrawny lowlife, who robbed you that you would just punch them rather than feeling upset

I feel so stupid. Why did i leave my engagement ring and eternity ring in a drawer? I usually hid them away if i am going away overnight

You can't protect anything from thugs. It's not your fault. Nothing you do can stop this.

Sadly, you kind of have to accept that it's a game of odds and sooner or later you get the short straw.

I am sorry. It's upsetting.

I find myself searching the ground and the drawers incase they have left anything behind or dropped anything. I feel
Gutted.

My insurance will pay and i asked my husband if he would come with me to choose a new ring . He designed the first one and he gave me an eternity ring when our marriage was really happy. With the stresses and strains of life and losses and grief it has become unhappier. My engagement ring and my eternity ring was a reminder of our happier times. It
Reminded me of the young happy man i married.

He is away with work for a week. He said he didnt think buying anything new would be the same. He also feels upset about the loss and his own memories attached to it.

I feel sad

Bless you. It is sad.

Sometimes these things come back, so you never know!
