Time to get back to it

I started a novel several months ago - it was going well and I'd written about 50,000 words of an 80,000 book - first draft. I'd written a synopsis and sent it to an agent - I can't really say "my agent" - she'd taken on my last book but couldn't sell it - I sent her a synopsis, asked her what she thought, she really liked it and told me to get going on it.

The thing is I thought my last book was great. She did, too. The 10 publishers who saw it were all very positive but of course didn't buy it. I've now got stuck on this new book. Again, I think it's great but don't trust my judgement. I've come to a complete halt. Work has been incredibly busy (inspections galore - I'm in teaching) but even so, normally I'd be gagging to get to it.

So if you don't mind, I'm going to use this space to post a daily update. If you would like to give me a good kick up the bum then that would be great. If you want to say you're ashamed of me, even better! If you feel the need to remind me this is what I've always wanted to do with my life, then I will listen.

Hope this isn't too self-serving a post.
